The staff here is extremely rude and unprofessional. The patient coordinators have very little knowledge about the program or the process, making it very unorganized. I would advise anyone to NOT go here for bariatric surgery. Having a supportive, knowledgeable administrative staff is crucial, and when that’s lacking, things can easily get lost in translation. The front desk staff, who answer the phone, seem to know nothing about the surgery, the process, or even the insurance reequirements. Avoid this place if you can.

I can’t reiterate this enough, the person who answers calls represents your company and what it offers. She should be knowledgeable with questions asked and have solutions… she should be attentive and answer questions accordingly.

Dr. Bessler is a down to earth surgeon and very experienced, which I certainly appreciated. Gio is equally awesome and really supportive. While the office staff is responsive, their demeanor can be hard to take at times (dismissive, short) which made it a challenge to be a patient of the center. I hope management has worked with the staff on this issue (I am a former patient from 2019), seeing how communications happen much more with office staff than it does with the surgeon who you only see and speak to occasionally.

Of course I would recommend it! Dr. Kalfa, Dr. Chai, and Dr. Fabian, along with the entire cardiac team, saved my daughters life. We stayed at Columbia for 4 months, and we were treated so well. Columbia is a life saving hospital.

2014 I presented Dr Bessler will one of the crazy cases you could imagine I asked him to reverse my gastric bypass surgery I had in 2009 that I went from 426 to about 175. Then return Dr Bessler and Gio I had sleeve in 2017 at 386 now back down to 190 thanks for excellent care and bed side manner it goes along way.

I met Dr.Kato 16 years ago at Jackson Memorial in Miami. My son was the youngest transplant at that time, he was 6 weeks old and 2 months premature. My son’s name is Christian Henley and my son is alive because of him. I speak of Dr. Kato often to him and let him know where he’s at. Please tell him about us and hopefully we get a response back. My son is 16 now and wants to be a transplant doctor
