Fantastic physician also with an amazing manner!!!!
I was referred to Dr. Mandigo by a neurosurgeon recommended by my long time personal physician. I was having terrible lower back pain and needed a second opinion about surgery. I was given an appointment for three months later for only a television visit. I needed the doctor's office to help me access the MRI that was done near my home. Despite the fact that I called Dr. Mandigo's office more than one dozen times to make certain the MRI had arrived, NO ONE would call me back. I finally got a secretary one week before the appointment. She was terribly snooty and said they would call me when the MRI arrived but they NEVER called. Three days before the appointment I called and they said they had a poor copy of the MRI report. That was all. Then on the morning of the appointment, the doctor cancelled with no reason given. HORRIFYING ! Worst treatment by a doctor's office in my life. The experience was exactly opposite his video where he talks about being sensitive and caring to patients.
Dr. Mandigo does not return requests for phone calls or portal questions. His NP handles his messages and says she will have him call but he never does. I've been a nurse for 39 years and have never been treated with less respect or compassion.
You’ll think everything is fine until it’s not. When he decides to turn his back on you, you won’t see it coming. I had 2 failed surgeries and then a third emergency surgery while still under his care in the hospital while reviving . I laid in agony from 7am until after 4:00pm while he dismissed the calls from the Residents Doctors and Nurses on Duty the trout the day which began at just before 7am. ...
Dr. Mandigo is very thorough and explained my condition well. One of the few neurosurgeons who are interested in your care even if you don’t need surgery right away. Staff is pleasant too!
I cannot speak highly enough about this highly skilled physician and caring individual whose procedure and aftercare gave me my life back.
I cannot speak highly enough about this highly skilled surgeon and caring human being I chose after two tele-health visits. His procedure and aftercare ended years of pain and gave me back my life.
4 months after my motorcycle accident (9/30/18), I still had many problems that fell on deaf ears with orthopedic surgeons in Norwalk hospital/Coastal Orthopedic.(Dr.Brady,).. (Dr. Lavorgna). I was on my own for a while because of that, and luckily, someone referred me to doctor Christopher Mandigo. He took great care of me, performing cervical fusion (4/19/19) and following up at all levels. I cannot say enough about this great Doctor!
Last month I underwent Spinal Surgery with Dr. Cristopher E. Mandigo as my surgeon. I had been referred by Columbia Presbyterian to Dr. Mandigo as the right Doctor for my condition. After having an MRI taken at Columbia Doctors on W51st St. I made an appointment for 2 weeks later. The MRI images were loaded into my patient portal and I was able to view them after a day or two. After a short wait at the office, I was ushered in to see the Doctor by his very pleasant manager, Steffani. Dr. Mandigo was fully prepared for the consultation and had the appropriate MRI images already loaded on his computer so we got right to it. He explained to me very clearly, what was going on in my spine and showed me exactly why I was suffering from such debilitating pain and great difficulty in walking. He went on to describe the procedure that would be required to remedy the situation in very clear terms… no medical jargon, just plain English! I asked if we could schedule for the next day and of course we couldn’t. I did receive a call the following day to see if I could be available for one week from that day as a slot had opened up in the operating room. I jumped at it and one week later my surgery was complete. Dr. Mandigo visited with me before the surgery and his manner is so calm and pleasant that it relaxes everyone around him…including me. I was very happy to be in his very capable hands. I mentioned to a Nurse how nice Dr. Mandigo is and she replied that its is very unusual to find a great surgeon who is also a very nice person. Dr. Mandigo is such a person. My surgery has been completely successful and I am very thankful for Dr. Mandigo’s excellent effort on my behalf. I hope that I’ll never need spinal surgery again, but if I do, I know where to go. Thanks Dr. Mandigo…!!!
Dr. Mandigo was wonderful, patient, and amazing RESULTS for my tailbone / coccygectomy. I was suffering from a broken coccyx injury 15 years prior. Strong and increasing pain anytime I sat without a donut type cushion. I’d tried many injections with and without steroids, including X-ray guided. Physical therapy both internal and external manipulation and nothing had helped. I finally decided it was time to try surgery. Mandigo looked at my MRI and X-ray could immediately see where my coccyx has broken years ago. He went in, removed the bottom 2/3rd of my tailbone. Surgery was in the hospital but quick taking about half a day. Pain was intense for about a week after, serious pain meds helped. About a month of significant pain post surgery no pain meds needed after the first week. Now closing on two months post surgery and back to regular exercise. I can sit completely on it with tiny discomfort, some laying positions have a bit more discomfort but that continues to improve. Thumbs up!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
