Amazing experience working with Julie Fisher. As a therapist myself, it can be hard to find a therapist I click with, and Julie is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and kind.
Dr. Meredith Hemphill is great. Have been working with her for the past 3+ years. She is kind, thoughtful, openminded, extremely professional and positive. I have tried many therapists and have come to realize that no matter what style the therapist is using the key determinant of whether they are good or not is how I feel after the sessions and over the period of working with the therapist. I always felt better after conversations with Meredith and over the long-term have definitely improved my understanding and control of my emotions and coping mechanisms. Meredith is also very knowledgeable about CBT, which was exactly what I needed.
Highly recommend Robert for couples therapy. Made both of us feel comfortable, heard, and understood. He also gave us great techniques and tools that we'll continue to use. We appreciated that we could do in-person sessions (which were hard to find), and that he has a convenient location and comfortable office.
Dr. Andrew Schmidt is not only a delightful human being but also an exceptional cognitive and behavioral therapist. His compassionate approach, coupled with a deep understanding of the most effective behavioral and exposure-based techniques for managing anxiety, OCD, and related disorders, sets him apart. I've had the privilege of collaborating with him through regular case consultations, and I am consistently impressed by his expertise and his dedicated team. Dr. Schmidt is our top referral choice for patients in the New York area. If you have the opportunity to work with him or his team of highly skilled clinicians, consider yourself lucky.
I had a wonderful experience working with Robert Herel on my OCD. He's an incredibly present, knowledgable and curious therapist, which actually inspired me to approach my OCD with curiosity instead of my usual dread and shame. While the work was challenging, it also became an interesting project, which kept me engaged and excited to take on the homework between sessions. The relief I feel after working with Robert is incredible- I really can't recommend him enough. In regards to City Center Psychotherapy itself- it's a nice, clean facility and the communication has been great. Their patient care administrator was quick to respond to my initial inquiry and set up a call so we could discuss finding a therapist that would be a good match. The office manager set out payment options clearly and provided a super bill so I could submit it to my insurance. While Robert was the only therapist I saw here, from my experience with City Center Psychotherapy I trust them as a clinic and would guess that all of their therapists are adept, well qualified and dedicated to providing excellent care.
If I could give zero stars I would. I’ve worked with many therapists and this was the worst experience I have ever had. Left feeling distraught and worse than when I started. The best I got was a “sorry you felt that way” (which we all know is not an apology) after being given the runaround for a week. Couldn’t even bother to give a referral for a provider that would be taken by the coverage I had. Didn’t want to leave a review because one person may not reflect the clinic as a whole, but this left me with so much distress I don’t even want to try to find a different provider from the anxiety of this experience. Please do better. People come seeking help for a reason. Don’t make it harder than it already is.
Dr. Schmidt is wonderful, talented, reliable and truly caring therapist who's support has been hugely beneficial to me over many years!
For anyone dealing with OCD, I cannot recommend City Center Psychotherapy enough. I'd worked with numerous therapists over 10 years on my OCD, but no one has fully understood my struggle and behavioral patterns like Andrew Schmidt. He worked with me on my ERP while helping me with some LGBTQ+ mental health aspects as well. He is VERY good at what he does and is incredibly compassionate and patient.
I had worked with Andrew at City Center Psychotherapy for 4 years on topics of OCD and LGBTQ+ mental health. I had been to numerous therapists before who all sort of understood my specific situation, but none who really fully grasped it the way he did. Andrew worked with me to get to the roots of my core beliefs, while simultaneously helping me through ERP and OCD management. I can't recommend him highly enough. Andrew is understanding, nonjudgmental, patient and VERY good at what he does. He has had a profound positive impact on my mental health and I'll be benefitting from our work together for years to come.
I saw Robert Herel for my retroactive jealousy and would highly recommend him as a therapist. He has a very warm and nonjudgemental approach - he genuinely cared about wellbeing and was my best cheerleader. He is also very knowledgeable about CBT techniques and I was learning something new every session. My problem was tricky and didn't respond to treatment for a while, but Robert never gave up on it, and I am happy to say that I am now cured! I'm grateful to have worked with him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
