Dr. Julia Tzu Md's Online Review Report Card

My skin was a wreck after years of acne and I was looking for someone to help fix the scars. I found Dr. Tzu and could not be happier after I going through microneedling and subcision treatments. I feel more confident and rely less on makeup and bright lighting. Wish I knew I could have this treated years ago.

Dr. Tzu is the best dermatologist New York City! I've seen her for a number of cosmetic procedures and my results are always natural and balanced. She is one of the few dermatologists who specializes in cosmetic procedures in lower Manhattan. I plan to continue to see her for long as I'm in the city!

I just moved to NYC and I had previously been diagnosed with keratosis and had spots I wanted frozen (this was a successful treatment in the past). Dr Tzu insisted on a biopsy even though I had recently had one and the spots were benign. She said she would “make a deal” with me if I let her do a biopsy, and it was benign, I could come back and she would freeze the other spots. As expected the result was benign but when I tried to make an appointment to have them frozen, she refused. She lied to me and tricked me into an unnecessary biopsy. The Office staff and assistant are rude and do not listen to concerns. Her Assistant tries to act like a doctor. I knew I only had a $100 co-pay but receptionist insisted I have a card on file and charged me more than was necessary and I had to wait for a refund.

Do not see Dr. Tzu if you have suffered from acne that has not responded to the typical treatments. I went to her specifically to get spiranolactone and she forced me to take all the antibiotics and topical treatments that I had been given since I was 12 and had never worked for me. She told me I needed to try this again because spiranolactone is bad and should be given as a last resort. I go in 3 months later after taking everything she prescribed (did not work at all, of course) and she still refused to give me spiranolactone. She said she cured her husband's acne with natural treatment (do I care?? did you listen to my history at all?) and that spiranolactone is very risky (I was willing to take that risk). I found a new doctor and got my spiranolactone. It cured my acne and I had zero side effects from the drug.

My visit to Dr. Tzu was better than expected (and surprisingly not as painful as I had envisioned!). My skin condition surfaced following extreme allergic reaction coupled with the current Covid virus impacts to my sensitive skin. Her attentive approach outlining a step by step approach gave me full trust and confidence I was at the right place. Following resolution of my primary skin issue, I also had a few stubborn moles removed. This was done with surprisingly very little discomfort! The staff is always friendly, welcoming and follow up on any issues I have had. Fantastic doctor and team!

Dr. Tzu treated my skin condition which I thought was related to CoVID. Fortunately, it was not yet still required thorough and immediate attention, diagnosis and treatment. She assess my condition accurately! The treatment cleared both my conditions in record time. I am extremely pleased with my experience at her office and the level of expertise and treatment. I am glad everyone is wearing a mask and after her treatments I am ready for the mask to come off! Thanks Dr. Tzu!

She is an incredibly kind physician who has an extreme amount of intellect. She is willing to do whatever it takes for her patients to get better.

This was the best experience I've had with a dermatologist. She was thorough and caring. I highly recommend her!

DO NOT accept a referral to see this doctor for tests. My dermatologist sent me there for a skin biopsy. She only accepts "certain insurance plans" (including mine), but when I arrived for my appointment, I was told the doctor requires patients to keep a credit card "on file." Again, I was there for a medical procedure, am fully insured and was totally prepared for any co-pay. When I refused to provide a credit card, the doctor refused to see me. Despicable.
