Dr Virgil Hatcher Md's Online Review Report Card

My husband had an appointment, they put him in a room in a gown 45 minutes still waiting so we decided to leave not a way to run a practice will never go back .

He is a very respectful doctor. From the time you walk in the room. He is very detailed with explaining what is going on with your skin. He does not rush through your appointment at all. I don't mind traveling all the way to the city to see him. I would really recommend him. You won't regret it. I wish he had more days at Harlem Hospital.

Excellent experience with Dr. Hatcher - showed great care and explained my situation to me in a way that I could understand. Ultimately, he was able to help me overcome a condition that I suffered with for a long time.

Dr Hatcher is an excellent, caring doctor who medical knowledge and prompt action has saved my life. I can only highly recommend his services to everyone worried about developing skin cancer.

Poor facility, poor staff, very dirty run down office. people barely pick up the phone. the office will string you along on a wild goose chase pretending they're trying to resolve a situation they don't fully comprehend in the first place. zero admission of responsibility. Dr Hatcher and his staff are an embarrassment to the medical profession

Dr. Hatcher is a super nice guy and very competent Doc. His office is not run terribly well which is disappointing.

Dr Hatcher has been my dermatologist for over 15 years - he has successfully helped me with multiple skin issues which many doctors before him were unable to treat. He is always methodical, thoughtful, never overly prescribing medications, always testing to make sure his diagnosis/treatment is right. He has helped me for years on long term issues like rosacea, eczema as well as quickly on small things: pimple zapping, ear piercing problems, minor burns. He’s literally a “face-saver” and a calm, friendly, very knowledgeable doctor that helps me put on “my best face” (Sorry for all the puns :) Highly recommend!

He is a great doc. I know his staff might not be the best but he deserves 10 stars in my book.

WOW i'm saddened after reading the reviews below i went to him a couple of years ago and he was great and so was the staff. I'm not sure what changed or why it changed. if you need a friendlier staff i will send me resume.

Here is the patient experience you can expect: You go in and get a skin lesion biopsied, and the doctor promises you he will call you, on your cell phone, in 4-5 business days with the results. A week goes by and you don't hear back, so you call the office and they say they'll leave a message on his desk for him to call you. Repeat this 5 or 6 times over the course of two months, until you finally reach someone that gives you his cell phone number. You call twice with no response, and then the office calls you asking you to call again the next day to "remind them" to do their jobs. Once you finally talk to him, rather than an apology about him and his staff repeatedly dropping the ball in terms of providing any modicum of patient care, you get a laundry list of excuses including: 1. Staff misspelled your name on the note so he didn't know what to do 2. He sees "a hundred patients" a day so he's really busy 3. There are "manpower issues" so it's tough to keep up with callbacks, which is why you were forgotten about 4. Other dermatologists would have you make another visit to discuss results, so you should feel lucky that he offers the chance to speak by phone 5. If you want anything done about the lesion, go find a plastic surgeon 6. Again, it's a "staffing problem" which caused him to forget that you exist He openly admitted that he doesn't have the staff to adequately care for the patients he sees. In a field that routinely deals with cancer, the inattentiveness of him and his staff are not only frustrating, but potentially dangerous to you as the patient. Would not wish this kind of patient experience on anyone.
