hes been my doctor since i was a kid, im seeing alot of people saying hes rude but im pretty sure its in a joking or funny way? i come out all the way from staten island just to see him. he gives me candy every time even though im already almost an adult, and even though waiting times are a little long, he gets things done fast do i think that makes up for it. the ladies are also nice, they always gave us cups to get water from the dispenser machine which i find oddly fun lol
This is is very bad. Every time I come here is a long wait. Due to covid I would see if they doing there social distant. I went up early they asked me to leave and come back on time. I come back on time schedule. They don't ask any safety questions they not doing their social distant. I waited for 20 mins to ask. They told me my daughter is next. I waited another 20 mins and still have not even enter the exam room. They not taking temperatures and have people in and out of office.
My grandpa came to see him. He yelled at my grandpa and said he's annoying. Rude and unprofessional. Would not recommend for someone this unpolite.
If you are looking for a doctor who is polite and friendly then this is NOT the place to bring a child. Dr. Poon runs the show and doesn't like people interrupting him by asking questions about his rapid fire directions or their child. My baby daughter is half Chinese. As the non-Chinese parent, I was very disappointed with the way Dr. Poon reacted toward me. If you are not Chinese, then it seems you don't count. Sadly, the staff mirrored Dr. Poon's attitude. There are plenty of doctors out in the world who would treat brand new parents who are trying to do what is right for their child with more respect and patience. It's not like Dr. Poon is the only option. Go to a doctor where you feel welcome no matter who you are. For sure, that was not my experience with Dr. Poon.
Sadly, Dr. Poon was not only unkind, hurried and dismissive ,his arrogance and disdain for questions and concerns that he said "interrupted his train of thought" was nothing I have ever experienced in a doctor. Would never, ever go back.
I think the other review by Stan S is a little ridiculous. Especially the complaints about his waiting room and "disengaged staff". There is no fire hazard - there is a emergency exit through the hallway anyway. Yes, wait times are long. That is also what happens when you show up during busy hours. Would you prefer him to "stay on track" and not give each patient the best care they could get? And by the way, his awards are articles from the New York Times for being one of the doctors in the 1990s to conclusively find evidence for America's obesity epidemic! And no, not all doctors are like him - he is on the board of directors for an association of american doctors. Eric S K Poon is an extremely compassionate doctor who cares about his patients and families. He is a genuine person. I am writing this at the age of 19, and he has been my doctor since the day I was born. My parents who were barely able to speak english or understand America had me and my older sister taken here. For me I was more exceptional due to the fact that I suffered from multiple debilitating allergies (200+ as a child, including milk, gluten sensitivities, etc). I also had other issues and he would spend hours upon hours making sure that I was being well looked after and he was very meticulous in his work in ensuring I was receiving the best possible care. As I hit puberty, he would make sure I was aware of other stuff and ask me questions not only about health but mental health and making sure I was doing OK in general. As I hit my teens and so on, he would make sure to inform me of changes I needed to make to my lifestyle constantly, and would always try to make sure that I was on track both terms of health (and believe me, he would criticize me about health if he felt that things were an issue). He also ended up helping me make some decisions on potentional future career paths and what sports I should play, certain things I should be aware of concerning diet, my mental acuity, my skin health (I had bad acne) and so on.Notable events with him stick out. As a young teenager, he got very upset at a orthodontist who was well known in the city especially amongst asian-americans. The orthodontist advocated for me to remove four teeth. When Dr. Poon heard this, he got upset and encouraged me to get a second or third opinion as he felt that this was unnecessary and more the orthodontist taking advantage of me. He was right. I ended up having braces for two years without needing to remove any teeth. I now have perfect teeth and no issues at all. Another time during a general checkup, he was taking a while longer with patients next door. I did overhear a little bit and the gist of it was that the family next door were immigrants and their children were not properly vaccinated. Dr. Poon refused to take their money, and advised them to got to the government and get their vaccinations for free while coming back to him for advice afterwards. That stuck out in my mind.Once, when we were talking, he told me how he never really wants to retire. Why? Because he loves kids. These interactions lead me to believe he is not just "like any other doctor." Otherwise, why do you think his waitrooms and appointments are packed and busy?
One of the WORST "Pediatric Doctors" me and my family have ever been too in New York City. Rude doctor and staff, small office that is unhygienic and over crowded cause this doctor carelessly over books. I will never take my kids to this poor excuse for a doctor ever again.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
