would definitely recommend. great place to receive affirming mental health services.
I highly recommend this therapy practice. They are very transparent with payment structures and easy to coordinate with. My therapist was engaged, flexible, and just so, so helpful in my personal growth journey. They also have a newsletter with interesting and reflective topics. Highly recommend for people seeking LGBTQ+ and nonmonogamy inclusive therapy.
This is the best practice in NY! Highly recommend!
I appreciate the responsive and professional communications.
Truly professional team at Exp. Therapy. They quickly switched me over to another therapist when mine went on a family leave. He is just as good.
Best therapist i have ever worked with. Going back after delivering my first child. (The staff at Expansive Therapy are also very helpful and kind)
We've had the pleasure of working with Expansive Therapy for several workshops at our company, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Their team is incredibly professional, intuitive, and thoughtful in their approach. Each session was tailored to our needs and helped bring out meaningful conversations and real growth within our team. Thanks to Expansive Therapy, we've seen a noticeable improvement in communication, collaboration, and overall team dynamics. A truly valuable partner in supporting mental wellness and professional development.
After 12 years of nigh-on abandonment and causing him to nearly cut off contact with them, my husband started seeing Lynda Marin for family therapy with his sisters in June 2023. They wanted to give a way to navigate a relationship around their homophobic mother and repair the relationship between themselves. His sisters started pushing to do big family trips again immediately, though. When my husband came to me to ask, my response was, "There is no way in hell that I am going to feel safe doing a trip with them as things stand right now. If they want that, we're going to have to resolve some things first." The sisters or Lynda seemed to think that meant I wanted immediately in on the therapy, and they invited me. Here we come to my first major red flag with Lynda. The older in-law's husband insisted that he also be allowed to join. She said, in session, that her husband was "uncomfortable with other people saying bad things about him where he couldn't hear". A huge red flag. Lynda allowed it. Things did not get better. Therapy can be described as 'the therapist and client doing basic investigative working together through the clients' history to identity, understand and/or resolve the clients issues'. Family therapy is the same, but the client is the family system itself. Repeatedly, Lynda functionally declared context as irrelevant. She'd regularly interrupt me to insist that I was making a completely different case and was uncharitable. At our last session, she told me that my words were 'insultive' because I had described my older in-law's unwillingness to accept overtures at communication as 'impenetrable'. My husband jumped in that 'impenetrable' is not insulting, and Lynda moved the goal posts. She said it was insulting because my 'tone is so angry', loud, and I used 'offensive words'. When he countered that this was textbook tone policing, she merely said "No it isn't". On multiple occasions, Lynda directly violated my consent and tried to insist on alternate history. I am a political psychologist/activist from a marginalized background. I've been dealing with physical and mental illness (CPTSD, severe sleep apnea, andropause, etc) most of my life. So my life often touches on political issues. This makes my in-laws uncomfortable. Even when it was only telling them what I was learning in grad school. The older in-law and Lynda insisted our relationship could only work if we all agreed not to talk about anything "potentially upsetting". I explicitly refused—during therapy. Cut down? Sure. Stop? Hell no. The same conversation happened around curse words. Especially since it wasn't like they didn't curse. These refusals of consent occurred within the first three months of therapy, and over the next five months she would insist on three seperate occasions that I HAD consented and was going back on my word. I corrected her each time, and yet it kept happening. I should've walked away—or at least insisted we get a new therapist. I have a talk and an EMDR therapist, and both have spent the last year all but begging me to get out of this situation. Little has changed except that my in-laws now feel justified by a therapist, and I no longer feel safe trying to repair this relationship. I want to believe this was a language barrier or Lynda getting overwhelmed by having 6, loud, ADHD adults over a Zoom call. I can't blame her for being shocked by my reactions sometimes. But I can blame her for ignoring my disability. For violating my consent. For tone policing. And I can't discard the possibility that this is indicative of deeper failures and blindspots for her as a therapist. And so I'm sharing my experience. Take from it what you will, and I hope your mileage varies.
Lynda Marin is an excellent practitioner and I learned so much working with her! She offers helpful solutions, remembers the details of our previous sessions, and is a judgment-free listener. I would highly recommend her for anyone seeking a responsive and caring therapist.
My experience with Expansive Therapy was truly amazing and transformative. My therapist, Raidys, was exceptional. This was my first experience with therapy, and she made me feel heard, comfortable, and helped me through some tough moments. I still carry her insight with me and would continue care with this group had I not moved states. Highly recommend this group to anyone seeking support!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
