List of Extend Fertility's Reviews
I unfortunately cannot recommend this practice. The entire website focuses on fertility and preservation benefits however upon contacting the office, single men are ineligible to utilize cryopreservation which is inherently inaccessible and exclusive for a medical practice.
I would not recommend Dr. Klein or this facility. We paid over $400 for a consultation and were left waiting over an hour past our scheduled time. When we were finally seen, Dr. Klein was unapologetic, even though it was obvious we were upset. He came across as distracted, avoided eye contact, and was not personable. After the appointment, I sent my medical records along with a follow-up email and never received a response. When I called the office, I was told to forward everything again because "Dr. Klein is not good with email." For the price and importance of fertility treatment, this level of care and professionalism is unacceptable. Dr. Klein is not listed on any reputable "best doctors" lists, and based on my experience, it's easy to see why. I would strongly suggest seeking care elsewhere.

Words can’t express how grateful we are to the entire team at Extend Fertility. We were with another clinic for 4+ years with zero answers and the finish line constantly being pushed out. We were treated as a customer at the previous clinic and not patients. The drastic difference we experienced from our very first consultation with Extend, we felt supported, informed, and genuinely cared for. The doctors took the time to explain every step of the process, and the nurses were compassionate and encouraging throughout every appointment. As we know, it is very expensive to undergo these treatments and the billing staff goes over and beyond to ensure your insurance is covering what they are supposed to and/or out of pockets are communicated beforehand. If you're looking for a fertility clinic that combines professionalism with empathy, this is the place. We couldn't recommend them more highly!
Really nice place, professional, really friendly staff and doctors were very thoughtful. Really good experience
While my interactions with the staff wasn’t bad at this clinic (friendly, responsive), I did want to share my experience for women considering this clinic. I went through with the egg retrieval procedure with Dr Klein and had to go to the ER for internal bleeding only a few hours later. I had vomiting and nausea and fainted post opp when I arrived home. My hemoglobin levels dropped to 8 and stayed in the ER for monitoring. Took 3 weeks to fully recover and feel back to normal. The staff was available for a phone call and did one monitoring appointment afterward but they were a bit dismissive in what could have happened or explaining what went wrong in the procedure. Not sure how often this happens at this clinic as there can always be complications with this process, but wanted to share with people considering the clinic.
DO NOT come to this clinic. They are not professional in many many ways. Did all my tests told me I could get around 20 eggs. Then two days before my surgery, They said my number was not good. Turned out to be the doctor didn't give me enough dose of medicine. I was like WHAT ?! They didn't even say sorry and try to blame me maybe I didn't follow the instructions to take the shots ?! It was a total horrible experience!!!! They are not friendly, not responsible, most importantly not making me feel comfortable as a woman who is at the most vulnerable situations.
I had such an amazing experience with Extend for egg freezing. I had completed a round previously at a different clinic, and the experiences were night and day! My practitioner, Valerie Shafran, was incredible - my treatment plan felt incredibly personalized and she made me feel like an actual patient and not just another number. Dr Abittan did my retrieval procedure, he was also so great! The whole team put me at ease and I was able to get really positive results. I would definitely recommend this clinic and the entire team.
I had a really nice experience with Extend. From the start, the process felt smooth and supportive. After my consult, I was paired with an advisor who walked me through the next steps and made sure I knew what to expect .The nurses were amazing, so friendly and always ready to answer my questions. Most of my scans were done with the sonographer, who was professional and kind, but my provider always reviewed the results. Overall, I’m really happy with my decision to freeze my eggs here. The whole process felt manageable, and I felt really cared for every step of the way.
I hesitate writing this review, but would want other women to have full knowledge before making a financial and medical commitment to this provider. My priority going into this process was to find a doctor & team who were able to communicate with me (i.e. help me understand each step of the journey) and treat me with humanity. Initially, Dr. Klein seemed like he would be able to provide both of these asks, as he spent an hour with me walking through my specific case and educating me on what I needed to know. I was assigned a patient coordinator, Avigayil, to whom I could ask questions. When I was ready to start, nearly 5 months after the initial meeting, I called Avigayil and got help through a nuanced situation. I appreciated that there was a class for injections, especially as someone who was anxious about needles. However, as the process commenced, I became less enamored with my experience. Through my first 8 days of monitoring, I saw no one except the phlebotomist and the ultrasound technician. A different nurse would call me with instructions every few days after my bloodwork and ultrasound - a quick minute conversation - and any question I had would require follow-up, which didn’t bolster any confidence. Avigayil did not check in. I wanted to know more about why certain decisions were being made, and understand my progress relative to initial expectations. I did not get this. On my ninth day, I was told two different sets of instructions involving the trigger shot, and had to call multiple times (and email Dr. Klein) for clarification. At this point, I hadn’t spoken to or communicated with Dr. Klein directly in over 5 months. A nurse shared that she had asked Dr. Klein to call me, as he should have seen me at least once during my numerous monitoring visits, but I did not get a call, only an email response hours later. Morning of my retrieval, Dr. Klein arrived nearly an hour late to my procedure (I was the first retrieval of the day) and spoke to me for about 30 seconds before heading back to the OR. I’ve had a handful of surgery/procedures through my life, and this was the first time I felt like I was treated like a box to check or a number on a page. A little humanity goes a long way, especially in a field wrapped up in many emotions, but I found little to no humanity here. It’s clear from other reviews that there have been some positive experiences here. However, if I were speaking to a friend, peer or colleague, I would caution them against using Extend Fertility as they risk the experience I had. In NYC, I’m certain you could find a capable practice able to provide you with the humanity and communication you deserve through a process as intimate as this one.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
