Ezriel E. Kornel Md's Online Review Report Card

First off, I would like to say that dr. Kornel and I developed a rapport over the years. He was a pleasant man and I always felt very comfortable with him. I met him in May 2014. He helped me when I had an infection in my spine after a surgery with another doctor. I had already had a laminectomy/discectomy of L5 – S1 by the previous doctor which resulted in a infection that needed to be treated immediately. The previous doctor did not treat me immediately and Dr. Kornel came on and treated the infection and had to perform a new operation opening up the site again and redoing the laminectomy/discectomy at L5 – S1. Everything was great until about sometime in 2017 when I began to experience some light spasms. Dr. Kornel sent me for shots, physical therapy and medication. These treatment therapies helped me for a little over a year and kept me out of surgery. However, in 2018 I would need another surgery. At this point I would need another laminectomy/discectomy; this time at L3 – L4. After the surgery, I would be in decent shape for a little while. I would go to Physical Therapy and continue with cortisone shot treatment. However, eventually I would need more surgery. In November 2019, Dr. Kornel brought me in to the hospital through the emergency room in order to get into the hospital and bypass the wait times for the insurance because I was in so much pain; I could hardly walk at the time and would never had made the Aetna 14 day wait period. At this point he would do replacement disc surgery. He was going in to replace L5 - S1 and the three discs above that. However, the MRI showed that L5 – S1 was naturally fused. Unfortunately, Dr. Kornel would not replace this disc during this surgery. I continued to be in pain and in 2020 after MRIs and a battery of CAT scans, between Dr. Kornel and his associate, they found that L5 – S1 was not in fact naturally fused! I would need another surgery which would entail removing part of the cage that was built around my replacement titanium discs and then putting in L5 – S1 and then rebuilding the cage around the several discs. My journey with Dr. Kornel started in 2014 and ended in approximately 2022- 8 years and 5 surgeries! BTW, I never mentioned that Dr Kornel had never gotten a chance to work on my cervical spine because he said he wanted my lower back to be in optimal shape before he ever addressed my neck. At that time I moved to Florida. Previous to that, I continued to be in serious pain and had new MRIs done and both Dr. Kornel and his associate looked over them again. I was given a diagnosis of failed back surgery syndrome. Dr. Kornel recommended that I might put in a spinal stimulator in the future. His associate thought that I might need surgery on my sacroiliac joint. There was definitely some disagreement on that fact. Either way, there was no solution, satisfaction or decent pain relief after an 8 year journey with Dr. Kornel and his practice. To top it off, on my disability paperwork for my New York State retirement, Dr. Kornel said that I was not permanently disabled from work due to the fact that there were "possible treatment options that might make me better"!!! He kept telling me over the years that he would put me out for disability but I was too young. I left him when I was 54 years old and he still did not feel that the amount of chronic pain, the diagnosis of failed back surgery syndrome, and my pleas with him to help me because of my pain were are enough for him to write a detailed, true analysis of the previous eight years and a true analysis of my future rather than his God complex convoluted ideas! Think again before using this practice with Dr. Kornel!

Dr. Kornel is an excellent surgeon and a warm, caring person as well. I was very nervous about having neck surgery for a very long time. I finally decided to do it because the pain was unbearable. I had three discs removed, one disc implant and two spinal fusions. I am now six months post op and I can truly say that I feel great. No more pain and much more movement than I ever had. Dr. Kornel and his staff were always available for me to talk to before and after surgery. No need to further research another neurosurgeon. Dr. Kornel is the best! God bless him and his staff.

Dr Kornel saved me from the negligence of another Doctor that left me for a month with an infection after minimally invasive surgery. He redid the surgery, took cultures, and targeted the needed antibiotics to get me better again. He was also truthful about going forward with the future of my needs for more surgeries. He is wonderful, kind and a most gracious man. His secretary works harder than anyone I have ever seen in a doctors office. Both his past and present secretaries have been nothing but pleasant and helpful to me throughout my time with Dr Kornel and BSSNY!

I saw Dr. Kornel as a new patient urgently for sudden onset of bad back pain from a new herniated disc. He saw me despite not having scheduled office hours that day. He was approachable, professional, very knowledgeable and experienced. He spent time explaining my condition and treatment options. He helped arrange for physical therapy and a possible epidural injection for pain prior to any consideration of surgical treatment. His staff members were all very pleasant and helpful as well. I had a very positive experience.

I had neck surgery 3 years ago.And now he is doing the sciatica.This friday i trust this man with my life.He is a great person and a great doctor..

Dr.Kornel is a caring kind doctor.He takes his time his time explaining the results of MRI results. He has a wonderful bedside manner and is very compassionate!!! I would recommend him to family and friends. I look forward to my next appointment.

I had my neck repaired went beautifully. I can’t say enough about Dr. Kornel he has a wonderful manner of speaking to patients and his staff is very cooperative and caring. Would never hesitate visiting him again. It was a great experience I went out for Veterans Day the next evening after my surgery with my proud Vietnam Veteran. I hope this helps someone.

I went to dr. E. Kornel's office to obtain a second opinion for a workmans compensation case. I arrived there on time. I did not wait to long . He asked me for medical statements and I provided him with dr.s reports and cd's for mri. He asked me several questions. It did not take him less than 5 seconds to give me a solid and truthful and straight forward ansewer I did not get from another dr.I recently had an epidural procedure on my neck which did not have positive results for me. Dr.Ezriel kornel is very professional and nice, he listened carefully as I explained my case. I would be honored if dr. E.Kornel would become my surgeon. This is my first visit I should explain and I came out of his 79 st office with a huge weight of my shoulder and dr.E kornel did not make me feel that I had to though I had to second guess my diagnosis and I was a bit nervous but he had me feel at ease. I also want to say thankyou very much to Beverly quintin, dr.Kornel's assistant she is very professional and is nice she assist you anyway she can . Beverly makes you feel at ease.
