I am a 68-year-old male who suffered from ulcerative colitis in my mid-30s and underwent surgery to have my colon and most of my rectum removed. The J-pouch surgery was successful. In 2021, I had emergency surgery to resolve a small bowel obstruction and was left with an ileostomy. Because some of my small bowel was cut away, I had frequent ileostomy bag empties (10-14 per day) and significant weight loss (40 pounds). I was miserable. My local surgeon referred me to Dr. Feza Remzi in New York City. I met with him in early 2022, and after a 3-month TPN regimen to regain some lost weight, I was scheduled for surgery in summer. Dr. Remzi reconstructed my J-pouch and formed a loop ileostomy. After ileostomy takedown surgery later in 2022, I am ecstatic to report that I feel great and have regained near-normal bowel function with excellent sphincter control and no leaking! I'm extremely grateful to Dr. Remzi and his colleagues at NYU Langone Health for giving me a new lease on life.

Dr. Remzi has helped get my life back. Over the course of the past decade, he's worked with me, on my timeline, performing multiple surgeries (as planned). Him and his Team are incredibly professional from pre-op through post op and discharge. He's a brilliant, confident and whole-hearted man, who understand the seriousness of his work. I trust my life with this man and would recommend him to anyone who is contemplating a surgery that he performs.

I accompanied a friend on three separate visits to Dr. Remzi, first at the Cleveland Clinic, and then at NYU Langone. I was impressed by his expertise and even more by his clear articulation of her condition, the treatment plan, and his surgical approach--every. single. time. He was compassionate, clear, kind, and hopeful about a bowel resection that refused to heal completely. But he kept at it with my friend, kept explaining, kept coming at the problem creatively and with energy. After each of her surgeries, which included checks on the healing process and also corrective procedures, he explained in depth what had happened, what we could expect, and where she was in process. At the end of one series of surgeries, I mentioned to Dr. Remzi that we were heading out to find some dinner. He suggested a Turkish restaurant nearby (he's Turkish) with enthusiasm. If you have to endure difficult abdominal surgeries, best to do it with a truly kind, massively skilled physician who cares about his work and also about his patients. Dr. Remzi is precisely that kind of specialist.

Dr. Remzi is by far the BEST doctor I have ever seen in my entire life and I've seen a lot of doctors! My journey with him started in 2020 when I was told by 3 other surgeons in Michigan I needed a permanent bag. I found Dr. Remzi through a FB group and everyone had amazing things to say about him. We flew to NY from Michigan and started my life-changing journey! Dr. Remzi told me that I did NOT need a permanent bag and my pouch was mechanically incorrect but could be fixed! He is very upfront and will NOT sugarcoat anything!! I knew this wasn't going to be an easy journey but I wanted my life back and he was the man for the job! I feel extremely bad for him because my surgeries have been pure hell and he has been by my side through it all!! When I say I was an extremely complicated case, I mean it! He never left my side and promised me that I would pull through all the horrific things that were happening and I did!!! Dr. Remzi takes great pride in his patients and treats everyone like family! I have sent many many patients to Dr. Remzi and every single one of them thank me for helping them find a doctor that cares and is willing to help them! Doctor Remzi pushes limits and will do ANYTHING to help you have a better life!! All I can say is he's a top doctor for a reason and if you need help and you're feeling defeated, he's your doctor! My personal journey with doctor Remzi has finally come to an end after 3 loooooooong and crazy years, but I'm bag FREE, my pouch works great and my life is fantastic! Dr. Remzi isn't just my surgeon, he's my friend and I know that we will keep in touch and we will see each other again but not in a hospital setting! We will be at a restaurant having a drink celebrating!! Dr. Remzi if you read this I love you too infinity and beyond and I can never thank you enough for what you've done for me! You are a god sent and you have changed my life forever!! "

Dr. Remzi was by my side each and every time and promised me I wouldn't die and I didn't!! Whoever you are that wrote the shitty review should be ashamed of yourself because he's the best man and surgeon out there! He found doctors in Michigan for me and made phone calls so I could get in immediately and be checked out. He would never NOT HELP SOMEONE!!! All I can say is he's a top doctor for a reason and if you need help and you're feeling defeated, he's your doctor! The best doctor I ever seen I miss him so much

Amazing human being! Dr Remzi gave me my life back after years of dealing with health problems. While my issues are not 100% completely healed, I still owe this man credit for his 100% dedication to my case and to my well-being to ensure that I have the best quality of life possible for my situation. His dedication to his patients is second to none. I highly suggest anyone having colorectal issues to at least consult with him. There is a reason people from all over the world see him.
