My dad had a fundoplication in April 2019. Dr. D’ovidio and his staff were excellent. Specially his secretary Sobeida. She was excellent with coordinating all my dads pre and post surgery appointments. She is very efficient. My dads surgery was a total success. Thank you.

I believe Dr. D'Ovidio performed my husband's surgery, a Heller Myotomy, well. However, we are disappointed with follow-up after surgery. Dr. D'Ovidio spoke with us less than 3 minutes in this appointment, leaving several questions unanswered. I understand he was in a hurry and had addressed an emergency earlier however, in the days that followed I called his office and left 3 voice messages. I indicated that we had questions about diet and medication. No one has responded. We had to search for answers online.

Dr. Frank D’Ovidio an excellent Thoracic Surgeon Saved my life. My name is Roberta Schneider and in May of 2009, I was diagnosed with aggressive Esophageal Cancer. I was directed by my gastroenterologist, Dr. David Markowitz to see Dr. Frank D’Ovidio, Thoracic Surgeon. Since the cancerous tumor I had was about to break through the fifth wall of my esophagus, this operation had to be done immediately. There was no time to waste. Addressing my surgery was not an easy one. Dr. D’Ovidio had to take a multidisciplinary approach, because of a shattered clavicle I had from a past auto crash in 1993. At that time a metal rod with screws was placed across my chest over my sternum. Dr. D’Ovidio was forced to work around it, therefore the Gastro Pull-Up Surgery could not be done through the front. He removed my esophagus connected to my stomach all in one piece. Then brought my small intestine up along side of my spine up through my back and connected it to the one inch esophagus I had left. He made me a human feeding tube. Using this technique, Dr. D’Ovidio was able to see as it was pulled up and cut out more lymph nodes at the same time. Doing this helped prevent the cancer from spreading. Since I had to go through a very aggressive chemotherapy and radiation, Dr. D’Ovidio worked along and always kept in touch with my Oncologist. Dr. Frank D’Ovidio is an amazing surgeon to take such wonderful care and concern with his patients. This in turn helped inspire me and made for a better healing even till now. He has a lot of empathy and is able to understand another person’s condition from their perspective. Today I am cancer free. When I say thank you Dr. D’Ovidio for saving my life, he always says, “it takes team effort”.

What a disappointing surgeon he was. After doing a 9 hour esophagectomy surgery in September on my husband that he said went perfect my husband wound up on a respirator in an induced coma for a month due to Adult respiratory distress syndrome, which they till this day say they dont know what happen that caused the ARDS but he practically almost died before they started the steroids which saved his life. After that he was in rehab for a month had to relearn how to walk , talk and everything that comes natural to us. Finally comes home the end of November for thanksgiving just in time for the birth of his grandson and a then 2 months later we find out that the cancer had spread from the surgery ( a surgery that went perfect right? ) after that he went into the hospital to radiate the area of the pelvis that the cancer spread to and then passed away a week later. Frank D'ovideo never even had the decency to call us to send his regards or anything after looking my husband in the face a month before that and telling him he wasn't going to die. He had the surgery in September and passed away in March, only had 6 short months with him and for 3 of them he was in the hospital on a respirator, left behind 3 children and a grandson! I regret ever having him go for the surgery and I regret ever using Frank D'Ovideo.

Dr. Dovidio is the most compassionate Doctor I have ever had the pleasure of speaking with. I have a very large hiatal hernia and am experiencing a lot of anxiety about having surgery to mend it. Dr. Dovidio was very patient in answering my many questions. He said that it was advisable that I lose weight in order to make the surgery effective and lasting. He did not rush me into surgery which really impressed me. I have the utmost confidence in this Doctor and plan to have him do my surgery when the time is right.

Dr. D'ovidio operated on me last month for a lung cancer. He was kind, patient took his time with me. His office staff is amazing, in all my years going to doctors i have never experienced such a compassionate kind friendly staff. I thank God for directing me his way........
