List of Funcphysio Physical Therapy's Reviews
I was referred to Dr. Suga at FuncPhysio for severe one-sided lower back pain related to the aftermath of an old lumbo-sacral disk herniation. As a physician myself, I was deeply impressed by Dr. Suga's knowledge of anatomy and neurological pathways. In addition, he asks questions, listens carefully and also educates, so you understand why he is doing the massages and manipulations he does. His bedside manner is also highly approachable and comforting. He not only relieved my pain during my visits, but showed me stretches and massages I could do myself at home, and also recommended a cheap massage tool that I ordered on Amazon-- it's been a lifesaver. These are now part of my daily routine, and have tremendously relieved my pain. I had gotten to a point where I dreaded getting out of bed in the morning because the pain and stiffness were so marked. No longer! I should also mention that the office staff are warm and attentive and that appointments start on time, with minimal to no waiting. I give Dr. Suga and FuncPhysio my highest recommendation!
Dr. Suga is amazing! I can't recommend him enough. I was struggling with hip pain and even considering surgery before seeing him. Thanks to his myofascial massage treatment, my hips feel great, and the fear that came with the pain is gone.
The entire team is kind and welcoming. Dr. Suga himself is fantastic at what he does. I was referred to Dr. Suga by HSS (Hospital for Special Surgery), one of the premier orthopaedic hospitals in the country. And I'm so happy they did. My results have been extraordinary. I recommend him to my family and friends. If I could give 6/5 I would =)
I would Recommend Dr. Suga To anyone experiencing extreme hip pain. I was nearly at the end of my rope after six years of lifestyle-altering hip pain related to a small labrum tear combined with hip dysplasia, resulting from an exercise related acute injury. I had tried it all-multiple rounds with different PTs, X-rays, MRIs, cortizone shots, lidocaine shots, acupuncture, chiropractor, and ultimately I thought PAO surgery was going to be my only option. Luckily, Dr. Ernest sink at HSS did not think I was quite there yet and he connected with me with Dr. Heidi Prather who, after sending me for round of HSS PT without improvement, and after hearing me, tell her that the pain was starting to radiate into my knees and ankles, recommended Dr. Suga at FuncPhysio because of his holistic approach. Dr. Suga’s approach to pain management is nothing like I had ever experienced before. He explained to me that, although I had maintained an injury, most of the pain I was experiencing was created by a neurological fallacy created over years of fear which had caused severe muscle tightness in my myofascia. While I was slow to grasp this concept and hesitant to believe its legitimacy, I started visiting Dr. Suga once a week. After a few weeks of extreme myofascia release, gait adjustment, learning of tips and tricks on how to move better throughout my daily life, and probably the most important, a mindset shift, we started to re-introduce small exercises into my daily routine. While I experienced pain at first, Dr. Suga assured me that I was not causing further injury to myself and to keep up with my exercises. Working similar to exposure therapy, the pain began to lessen. I have been steadily exercising at my cadence from before the injury for six months. Since there is still a small injury, there, I will not say that my pain is 100% gone, but I will say that my lifestyle has gone back to normal and the pain I do experience is rare and much more minimal than it was before - so I would say about 96% improvement from where I was. I am perfectly happy with this as I was able to avoid an extremely costly and invasive surgery that would’ve been incredibly difficult to recover from. The office staff are polite and friendly, Dr. Suga is kind and warm, and happy to spend time explaining everything to his patients, and I am eternally grateful to him for giving me my active lifestyle back.
Dr Suga changed by life! After three hip surgeries and chronic back pain since I was in my 20s, I have seen many therapists - physical therapists, acupuncturists, chiropractors, masseuses, etc. Dr Suga fixed me - to the extent that I am no longer reliant on these practitioners to heal my pain. He taught me to listen to my body and how to treat it with myofascial release. If you have unexplained pain - or even "explained" as it was in my case! - you should at least go for an assessment with Dr. Suga. He could change your life for the better too!
Kohei is the best! Completely helped my back pain. Would recommend to anyone!
Dr Suga changed my life! When I first visited I had been experiencing hip pain for almost 1yr that made simple household tasks painful and difficult. Dr Suga’s techniques have reduced my pain by about 90% over 6mo, and now I can not only do everything around the house without fear of pain, but I have resumed much of the athletic activities that I was doing before the original injury. Dr Suga is kind, patient, and nice to talk to. He has an excellent memory and is the only PT I have seen who tests function and pain with movement multiple times throughout each session to ensure the treatment is working. I strongly recommend giving FuncPhysio a try!
Kohei is amazing, friendly and helpful. I had involuntary movement in my foot and ankle after a severe ankle injury, and it was significantly improved after a few sessions.
FuncPhysio / Dr Suga has been life changing for me. I had a chronic shoulder/trap injury that lasted nearly 4 years. I had tried 10+ practitioners (several PT, acupuncture, chiro, OMT, PRP shots) etc but Dr Suga was able to diagnose my underlying fasica pain. Was referred by HSS to Dr Suga after several PRP shots. He is one of the top practioners in the world. It's a surprising treatment, basically he uncovered tons of latent pain throughout my fascia that was preventing proper body function. Can't recommend Dr Suga more highly!!
I would highly recommend Dr Suga. My daughter had been struggling for years with hip and leg pain. She went to 3 different physical therapists over 2 years and the pain actually got worse. Fortunately, a doctor at HSS recommended Dr Suga and he worked with her over the course of a year, and she is now pain free!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
