Staff were busy. Yet still had the best attitudes. So helpful and caring. The Dr had the best bedside manner of any Dr I ever met. Explains things so you understand and you can tell he's not faking compassion. Made me feel so comfortable. Totally recommend anyone with any kind of blood cancer choose Dr Abu Zeinah as your mpn specialist.

Dr. Abu-Zeinah is a wonderful physician. I’ve always felt like I have his full attention. He is intelligent, very well informed, and very empathic. It’s hard to hear complex information about one’s own complicated condition, but he explains things very well, and very patiently. I’m grateful that I don’t have to worry whether I am in good hands.

My visit with Dr. Abu-Zeinah this past Tuesday was simply wonderful. Both my sister and best friend came with me for the consult, as this was my third opinion on my illness, and they, too, were deeply impressed. I'd been to two other cancer hospitals, and Dr. Abu-Zeinah by far was the most detailed of the three, and also the most goal oriented. Cornell has a unique approach to MPN illnesses, particularly myelofibrosis, in that they don't believe that doctors should simply "watch and wait" to see how the disease progresses in the patient and just hope for the best. (Dr. Richard Silver, a pioneer in MPN research who has since retired from Cornell, has a great video on YouTube about this.) Instead, they have worked actively with drugs that they have found to actually slow disease progression. The doctor assured us that they have the data to back up their claims, so I left there with just so much hope. I was also moved by Dr. Abu-Zeinah's compassion. Not only is he a great instructor in explaining Cornell's treatment plan, but he's also a great listener who took all of our questions very seriously. Since I was diagnosed in May, I've really struggled with despondency over my initial prognosis, but Dr. Abu-Zeinah's overall demeanor made me feel like I've finally found my doctor. When you get a diagnosis like mine, hope is everything, and I've got it now in spades. If you take just one lesson away from this review, let it be that you should get multiple opinions on your cancer, particularly if it's rare and "incurable." Join an online support group, too, which is where I learned about Cornell. Patients were raving about this place, and now I see why.
