This doctor screamed at me at the top of his lungs while I was on the phone with him. I didn't raise my voice to him at all. I wanted to know why he was choosing a particular way of treatment. He couldn't handle the simple questioning and cut me off to say, "If you want to micromanage, go right ahead!!" This was shocking to me how he reacted and how loud he yelled. I was dumbfounded. I am sure he was in the room alone during this phone call because he would have been embarrassed acting as such with anyone else. I have a feeling also I asked a good question which is why he couldn't explain or want to explain. It was just a "listen to me period and I don't have to explain to you" attitude. This story is not an exaggeration either. I have other examples too on his unprofessionalism but just from this example alone, how can this person be considered a top notch doctor?

I had the best experience with Dr. Grifo. He was patient, answered our questions and truly cared about me as a person. The staff at the center was so nice and attentive and always gave us a call back. I 100% recommend Dr. Grifo and his team, I feel so lucky to have had them a part of my journey.

I had my first cycle out of the two covered by insurance done at another practice, which proved to be a waste of time and money. Disappointed in those results, I researched other practices and doctors in NYC to try to have better results for my last cycle covered by insurance. Based on my extensive research, I learned that Dr. Grifo is one of the most prominent IVF experts in the country and that he has had personal experience with IVF in his own family. I am happy to say that I had a good experience with Dr. Grifo at NYU and much better results than at another clinic (which I also reviewed). One of the most important things to look for is that the doctor studies your charts after each test and adjusts the medication and protocol accordingly to maximize your chances for a positive outcome. Dr. Grifo does exactly that. He seems to know exactly what to do in more difficult situations like mine where the body doesn't react to the medicine quickly. Other clinics often make you follow a generic protocol and shrug when you don't get results even though they should know that every body reacts differently to the medicine. In the end, I had much better results than the first time at another clinic due to the above attention to detail and correct adjustments to the meds made along the way.The only issue I encountered with my experience was in regards to NYU's and specifically the anesthesiology department's billing practices. They require payment up front even when your services are fully covered by insurance. In my case, they charged me their cash rate and it took me 4 months and hours of my time to get them to refund the overcharge (the difference between the cash rate and the insurance-negotiated rate that I should have paid).

Do not recommend. Some doctors only care about money and nothing else.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Grifo for close to 10 years. He is intelligent, compassionate, patient & understanding. After dealing with a number of IVF clinics in NJ, we were referred to Dr. Grifo by a friend who had success on their first IVF cycle with Dr. Grifo, after 3 failed elsewhere. We, too, had a successful IVF in our first try with Dr. Grifo and now, 7 years later, at the age of 41, I’m pregnant after one FET. His staff is equally friendly & kind. We cannot even begin to praise Dr. Grifo for the level of care we received!

Yes, the guy is a total idiot just like another reviewer said. He is condescending, smirks at times, will raise his voice and cut you off just to make sure you do what he says. He doesn’t care what you think and has his own mindset. He answers your questions so vaguely believing you are not smart enough or should be involved in the full picture. He will involve you in his personal life because he wants you to know that he suffered too. Who cares about him really? I only recommend that office if you’ve had failed cycles. I do not have good words to say about this doctor. In fact he and this office may cause a setback in your life because they are more concerned about their wellness rather than yours. What I wrote in this review is just the tip of the iceberg.
