List of Jocelyn Brown's Reviews
I saw Dr on CBS News and I had to research what I thought I heard, I know she has since regretted that she said “when Children suffer a trauma when they go to the Dr the trauma has no signs” Sorry this is nit a paraphrase. But you know this is hogwash and I know your sorry you said that.
Jocelyn was our midwife for our daughter born in early 2018. When we found out we were expecting our second, Jocelyn was our first call. She combines the perfect mix of compassion and patience with practicality and expertise. She takes time during all prenatal appointments to thoughtfully address birth fears and questions, allowing us to feel safe, heard, and appreciated during the entire pregnancy. During labor, she is by your side, calm and supportive, and intuitively gives you space at the exact moment its needed. We looked forward to each postpartum visit, armed with a hundred questions which she walked us through and made us feel at ease. We were so fortunate to have two beautiful and empowering birth experiences with our daughter and son, and it would not have been possible without Jocelyn. She is an amazing midwife, person, and friend, and we are so grateful to have been under her care!
I doubt I can put into words anything that can adequately describe how great it is to work with Jocelyn, but I'll do my best.My wife wasn't sure she wanted to give birth outside of a hospital, but from our very first conversation with Jocelyn, we grew confident that it was the best possible decision for us. That shift, from trepidation to confidence, from uncertainty to being able to imagine clearly what our birth experience would be like, represents, more than anything, what it's like to work with Jocelyn, from the early stages of pregnancy through labor and in the follow up time after birth.Jocelyn has an ability to foster internal strength for the parents she works with because, she not only understands the biology of pregnancy, and the science of the childbirth process (so she's able to explain anything you ask with clarity), but she also knows how to create emotional safety. And, after all the meetings, and prep, when it was time to go into labor, we were psychologically prepared. This part is the hardest to write about, because it is all such a blur, but I remember when my wife and I called the night of the labor, Jocelyn calmly listened to what my wife was feeling and experiencing, and told her to hold on, to stick it out, that she's was doing well; and in that moment I felt so grateful.Truly, Jocelyn is one of those people you will feel fortunate to work with and learn from. She's a teacher, a coach, and a friend. We thank our lucky stars we found her and that she helped us in one of the most precious (and potentially frightening) times in our lives.Thank you Jocelyn! We love you.
Jocelyn was my midwife for the births of both of my sons. She is simply the best; she's cool under pressure, compassionate, and extremely knowledgeable. She truly aides in making the whole process from prenatal, birth and postpartum smooth and seamless. She works closely with obgyns, labs and any other care providers that may be needed to coordinate testing, ultrasounds and just your overall care. She goes above and beyond to make sure you and your little one get the care you need. She's an amazing midwife and a true patient advocate. We feel so fortunate to have been in her care. And hope that when it's time to be in it again!
To put it simply: my pregnancy nor my birth nor my beautiful son would have been the same without having Jocelyn as my midwife, guru, and ultimately, my friend. Her knowledge is maybe only surpassed by her instinct. And if you are a person who values honesty--both of your midwife and yourself by proxy of her insistence on internal digging, you couldn't choose a better person to help you navigate this amazing journey. I will only have another child if I can have Jocelyn be my midwife...and that is not a hyperbolic statement, because she is my pregnancy/childbirth soulmate (aside from, you know, my husband). If you are looking for a champion for women, babies, fathers, and someone who is knowledgeable, kind, and truly dedicated, you simply have to see if you can hire Jocelyn.
Jocelyn is an outstanding midwife who went above and beyond for me and my family when we were facing a transfer of care at 42 weeks. During my pregnancy she provided excellent care and resources. After my due date came and went she warmly acknowledged and answered the big scary questions and concerns from myself (a birth doula), my husband, and my mother. Jocelyn is exceptionally smart, trustworthy, and nurturing. And to me, those are the most important qualities you could possibly ask for in a midwife. Being in her care provided me with a safety that I did not receive from the many other care providers I had seen both before and during my pregnancy. If it weren't for Jocelyn's advocacy, care, and knowledge, my birth story would have been very different.
It's taken quiet some time to put into words my birth experience, I had my son in 2016. So many anxieties leading up to the ever impending unknown of pushing a tiny human out of your vagina that you have grown inside of you- all the fears of hoping it will all just be okay. Well, luckily, it was. Everything was great and the big scary long awaited moment finally came! Giving birth at Gracefull- the birthing center Jocelyn worked at, at the time, was nothing short of fucking magical. My midwives there- Jennifer & Jocelyn, held my hand the whole way and dealt with all my panic-y freak outs. They loved & supported me when I needed it & encourage me to just get through and enjoy the experience- this magical, magical experience! Jocelyn ended up being at my birth! Perfect match. Her energy was calm and supportive & exactly what I needed, even when I found out we couldn't quiet see the head! She rocks at what she does. Being a midwife can't be easy, but Jocelyn carries herself with grace. I'm so grateful for the birthing experience I got to have. I'm excited to say I'm preparing for my home birth with Jocelyn now! I obviously would recommend her as a midwife to anyone wanting to have an out of hospital experience. I fully trust her word and wisdom.
I was under Jocelyn's care in the summer of 2017 to early 2018 when I had my daughter, my first child. I could not have been more blessed to find her. She was so attentive and always informative. I loved coming to each appointment with questions because I knew Jocelyn would always have an abundance of answers. She was great about keeping me prepared and was always transparent about what to expect. When I went into early labor, she was always just a phone call away when I needed her and talked me through contractions at times. I loved how patient she was when it was time to give birth which I felt went smoothly. I felt so well taken care of and just so happy about my overall birth experience - I still rave about it today! I was also amazed at the postpartum support that continued on for 6 weeks. I would definitely see Jocelyn again for my next birthing journey.
Jocelyn is the best midwife I could have hoped to have! She spent so much time with us at every appointment, and really took the time to make sure we were educated on pregnancy, childbirth & life postpartum. She was always just a text or phone call away, and went above and beyond. I would highly recommend her.
I met Jocelyn at 10 weeks pregnant and felt an instant connection. She is professional, extremely knowledgable and very patient. There wasn't a time when I felt that my questions were not taken seriously and thoroughly answered. If there were particularly big feelings around a pregnancy symptom or birth fear she would talk me through all the scenarios to ease my mind. Her guidance is based both on evidence and experience, while allowing you to make your own decisions--without judgement. The birth of my son in Sept 2017 lasted a couple days due to back labor (he was sunny side up). Jocelyn was able to turn him here at home, avoiding a hospital transfer. She was a quiet presence at times, allowing me to birth on my own--but when I asked for it, she provided just the right amount of guidance to bring my baby earth side. When I became pregnant with my daughter in June 2018, Jocelyn was one of the first people I told. I was excited to have her back in my life regularly and knew that there was only one midwife in LA for me. Again, she was everything my family needed. We had a quick birth just a couple weeks ago. It was so special to have my son there, watching her deliver his sister as she had done with him just 18 months prior.. My husband likes to tell them regularly that her hands were the first to ever touch them. Jocelyn feels like family, I cannot recommend her enough. Birthing with Jocelyn is birthing fearlessly.
