John Joseph Doolan's Online Review Report Card

I have been a patient of Dr Doolan for 2 years. He always takes the time to answer my questions in a kind, friendly and professional manner. My first visit to him was for tarsal tunnel syndrome and I am very happy to report that the treatment I received made the pain go away. After that, I have gone to his practice for various other reasons. I will not go to any other podiatrist.

My first visit with Dr. Doolan was excellent. I had to wait a while for him to arrive in the exam room but the way I look at it I assume he's taking as much time as his prior patient needs and I anticipated receiving the same attention — which I did. I asked him to evaluate a handful of pre-existing issues as well as diagnose some new pain; he promptly and expertly responded to all my concerns and questions and I left with a clear understanding of what steps are available to me, both immediate and longer-term. He was upbeat, quick without being brusque, and I wouldn't hesitate to return for further consultation and treatment should I need it.

I visited Dr. Doolan for severe left ankle pain and to check my custom orthotics. Even though he is a surgeon, he took a methodical, conservative approach, which I appreciated. He began with an X-ray, then an MRI when I mentioned my pain was getting worse. It showed severe arthritis (no tears or broken bones), for which he recommended a strong ankle wrap brace, rather a fusion surgery. These braces have been a game changer and improved the quality of my life! I can get them inexpensively on Amazon and wear them with my custom orthotics and sneakers. They even fit with some of my boots. I can now walk around NYC for several miles.

Dr. Doolan and his staff accommodated me in a tight schedule to evaluate my feet and fit me for orthotics. I also was present for his post-op follow-up on my wife's foot surgery. In both cases, he was obviously knowledgeable and skillful (my wife is a medical professional who quickly knows the difference among excellent, mediocre and questionable doctors). He noticed an issue with one of my feet that other podiatrists and medical doctors had completely overlooked. Needless to say, Dr. Doolan fits into the excellent category, and I would dare say at the top of that category.

Dr.Doolan is phenomenal and I appreciate him as my podiatrist because he's always willing to go the extra mile for his patients to seek them healing and the best treatment and solution to solve their problem or conditions,Thank you Dr.Doolan and I highly recommend him to anyone who's looking for a sincere compassionate Doctor.

I just started seeing Dr. Doolan and so far he was been great. Patient, explains everything about my upcoming surgery and answered all my questions. He was super punctual for my video call and gave me specific items to do before the surgery. His office staff is also great and so nice to work with.

Dr Doolan was extremely informative and helpful with my minor problem regarding the need for new orthotics. He took this minor issue very seriously and provided advice as well as a few solutions to my back problem. He was quite patient and allowed me time to evaluate the inserts he suggested. However his assistants were overzealous. When I walked down the hall to try my new inserts, one assistant put my old orthotics and put them in the trash. When I asked where they were, she suggested retrieving, I asked the doctor for the name of the off-the-shelf orthotics. He suggested I could find it on the box. When I asked the second assistant for the box she said we threw it away. I said can you get it? She said no?

Dr. Doolan misdiagnosed my severe foot pain, refused to do an X-ray and told me I had plantar fasciitis and the only treatment that would work was a series of shots in my heel which were so painful, I requested that I be medicated before the next treatment. He refused to medicate me. I did not go back. I found another physician at an equally prestigious hospital who immediately did an X-ray and a sonogram, which showed a fractured heel and a severely torn fascia. This physician advised that the shots were the worst possible treatment for a torn fascia and of no value for a fractured heel. He treated me with a boot for six weeks, and electrical stimulation. The pain went away immediately and the heel was healed completely in 3 months.
