Kept me off of dialysis for two years. Expect to spend time in the waiting room when you go-take a book or lunch (and dinner.) Let me assure you the wait is worth it. Once you are in the office he will listen then explain whatever you need to know. Listen as he will advise you on what to expect and the steps you need to take to slow things down. He will refer you to whatever specialists are needed-TAKE AND FOLLOW HIS ADVISE!!

Dr. Stern is concerned, conscientious, knowledgeable, and extremely thorough. He takes his time, and is an excellent diagnostician. As a retired doctor myself, I know that the kind of care he provides is a rare find.

Dr Stern is extremely thorough and considers all aspects of the patient's condition. He is very careful about explaining the reasons for medications and how best to deal with problems which might be encountered .He welcomes question and is very patient.

The first time I saw Dr. Stern the wait was over 2 hours. His secretary said that was normal for him. The second time the wait was nearly four hours. I expressed some outrage at this to his different secretary that day, and she later complained to him about in. In his response to my primary care doctor he described me as having been "exceedingly rude" and joked that he would see me again if his secretary allowed it. He noted that neither my wife nor I had not complained at all to him, and ridiculed me to my PCP.He spent the one hour session - if he does 25 a day as noted in his description - i admit he did not rush us - he proceeded to tell me in detail the exact manner of my inevitable decline and death from kidney disease. (I had some damage due to chemotherapy from cancer). The cancer is cured - thank God, but his prediction was anything but accurate. Now, 5 years later, I have remained with a creatinine of 1.5 and very stable... his prediction of my demise seems grossly overstated.He seems like a nice, but poorly organized researcher who also practices, and he seems never be on time. He also described my normal weight (in fact always considered this, half-marathon walking exersize loving wife as overweight (155 lbs/ 5'6"/ 55 years of age) in his letter to the PCP. Maybe he forgot what she looked like as she sat in front of him.Good data mining researcher and time unconscious with patients as he may be, it was traumatizing hearing his predictions of doom (which did not turn out despite my never seeing him again), and his taking his secretary's hearsay opinion that I was "exceedingly rude" and joking about it to my new PCP belies the depth of his apparently caring (albeit using scare techniques) manner.Not everyone who seems kind really is, and not every smart professor is correct.Thank God. Find someone else.
