My experience with Dr. Liu was wonderful. This was my second endo surgery (longer and more extensive than the first one). I was at a point with pain where I was experiencing light headness and shortness of breath due to the excruciating pain. I did extensive research and her name always came up. I decided to meet her and after our first consultation I knew she was the surgeon for me. She is incredibly compassionate, validating, and caring. I never felt rushed throughout the whole process. Dr. Liu checked on me and answered all my questions for several days if not weeks after my surgery. I felt at peace having her by my side. I had no complications, and after 3 or so weeks I was feeling like myself! Thank you, Dr. Liu! p.s. her whole team is awesome too! Very professional and caring.Regarding finances, although she is out of network, her team handles everything! this was very important to me because other surgeon's offices have you pay upfront and then you are responsible to submit the claims for reimbursement to the insurance company. I didn't want to deal with an insurance company as I was recovering. This is SO important and helpful in the recovery process! Really though. She also has a payment plan which is completely reasonable and worth it. Her whole team makes the process so easy so that you only have to focus on your recovery.
Dr. Liu was extremely thorough and precise with my excision. I was pleased to read the extensive surgical report that truly seemed like she took out every possible suspicious tissue. I had 2 consults with Dr. Liu prior to my surgery. The first one was in office and she was very warm and understanding, which is rare to have in a surgeon. The second one was virtual and a pre-op appointment. Throughout the consults, Dr. Liu was flexible and easy to work with, and opted to increase the number of surgeons present to increase my positive outcomes. Dr. Liu's finance and scheduling team is very flexible and responsive. I was able to get in for surgery quickly as my symptoms were increasing.I had 3 surgeons present: Dr. Liu, a urologist, and a OBGYN who worked together to excise tissue as a team. Dr. Liu excises vs ablates tissue which is KEY to a successful endo treatment. She also uses the DaVinci robot, which after doing my own researcher, is a cutting edge technology and not used by every endo excision specialist.Pain and recovery post surgery was not terrible, and Dr. Liu called me every day to check in on how I was doing. She was also available for questions via email, which made me feel great. Once again, rare to have in a surgeon.I was expecting more communication about what tissue was removed immediately after the procedure and a thorough walk through of the pathology and surgical report - neither of those happened, thus the 4 star review.I'd definitely see Dr. Liu again, but hope I don't have to :)
Dr. Lora Liu is the most trusted Doctor I have been to. She listened thoroughly to all of my symptoms and gave me options for treatment. We decided that a laparoscopic surgery was the best option and I was scheduled four days later. I never had to worry about scheduling, insurance or any logistics as it was all professionally taken care of for me. While in the hospital I had several different nurses say that I was in the best hands and they were right!! Dr. Liu was highly compassionate and spoke to me like a friend, not a patient. We still communicate about post-op and she is very attentive. I am so glad to have found Dr. Liu. Look no further, she is the best choice.
Dr. Liu is a phenomenal and overall empathetic surgeon. From my initial consult with her , I felt empowered and like my voice was being heard. She truly validates and tries her best to help endo warriors feel better. Before my surgery , I was having excruciating left sided pelvic pain and having bowel movements literally use to bring me to tears. 3 months post op I can say I am feeling so much better and no longer dealing with the same problems. Endometriosis is a crippling disease but doctors like Lora Liu restore hope in the hearts of patients like myself that have been experiencing debilitating pain for years! Thank you so much Dr. Liu!
Dr. Liu was very thorough and helpful in answering all my questions and being up front and honest about the surgery and the outcomes so that I could make an informed decision about my quality of life, and future plans. During the surgery/ post-op and during my recovery she checked-in with me frequently and was very honest as to what I could expect. She answered my questions honestly and thoughtfully. I would highly recommend her and her team to women living with endometriosis who are considering laparoscopic surgery. I never experienced this high level of care and safety.
I highly recommend Dr. Liu! I sought her out an unpleasant experience with another endo specialist. Over the years, I’ve grown to be very selective with my medical team. As a Black, queer, femme I have experienced a lot of unselecting experiences in the medical world which has led me to be very attuned to how I am being treated. Dr. Liu instantly made me feel comfortable. She took time to listen to me and not pressure me to make a decision. She is kind, great bedside manners, and takes time to explain things in detail. She is also accessible when needed. As a result of my initial experience with Dr. Liu, I decided to proceed with surgery. I was diagnosed with a very (extremely) rare form of endo which Dr. Liu has not dealt with before. But, my experience with her helped me feel confident in her care. The surgery went smoothly and her whole surgical staff were kind. Dr. Liu also followed up with me regularly after the surgery. I’m now 2 months post surgery and I feel great. I cannot not stress how thankful I am for Dr. Liu’s care and expertise. She will not disappoint!
I couldn't possibly put into words how grateful I am for the treatment and care I received from Dr. Liu. I’ve suffered from chronic pelvic pain and painful periods for almost 10 years. I’ve seen more doctors for it than I can count, all of which completely shoved my pain aside and provided no answers and no help. When I made my first appointment with Dr. Liu, I was incredibly anxious to meet with yet another doctor thinking it would be just like all the times before. However, for the first time in my long journey, I was immediately met with compassion and understanding. She listened to every concern and symptom I had. It was very clear how much she cared about my situation and wanted to get to the bottom of things. I had never felt so validated in my life. She carefully explained all my options to me. We decided pretty quickly that surgery was what comes next. She was very thorough and answered all my questions, I never felt rushed. I felt like I could have sat there asking questions for hours if I needed to. Between that appointment and the surgery itself, I also dealt with her whole team who were just as wonderful. By experience up until the surgery itself is enough to give 5 stars. But I am now 6 months post op and I have never felt better. Prior to the surgery, it had gotten to a point where I was in horrible pain every second of every day. Now, I only have a few pain days a month and compared to what it used to be, it feels like nothing. Dr. Liu completely changed my life and I cannot fathom into words how thankful I am for her and her team. I would give a million stars if I could. She is an incredible doctor and person.
It’s so hard to find doctors that understand what you’re going through and actually take the time out to help and figure it out. Dr. Liu is so caring and sincere, I had the best surgery experience with her and her team. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my endometriosis care. She made me feel comfortable through everything and was there for all my questions and how to manage my symptoms. Dr. Liu is extremely knowledgeable in Endometriosis and is the best to go to for pelvic pain. I feel a lot better after surgery, and she is so sweet to check up and make sure everything’s okay. Don’t waste your time going through tons and tons of doctors and not getting the right help. Dr. Liu is the best out there !!
Dr. Liu is the best ever. If you need to see a doctor, you need to see Dr. Liu. She is knowledgeable, she is a gifted surgeon, and her office runs flawlessly. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Liu and her team. I had Endometriosis excision surgery with Dr. Liu in September. She called me each day after surgery to see how I was doing and answer any questions I had. I have never experienced the level of care Dr. Liu offers. She is amazing.
had a terrific visit with Dr. Liu. She took her time and listened. She is a kind, caring and very knowledgeable about my very difficult case.
Dr. Lora Liu is an exceptional individual. She is what every medical professional should strive to be. Dr. Liu is one of the best doctors I have ever had. I have a terrible history of medical trauma, but she singlehandedly restored my trust inhealth care. Dr. Liu validated my pain. I was dismissed by so many doctors before meeting Dr. Liu. I had been struggling with debilitating pelvic pain for years. Other doctors didn’t take my suffering seriously. They only offered me Advil and birth control pills. Dr. Liu actually listens to her patients. I felt comfortable when I walked into her office. She made me feel safe. She made me feel in control of my treatment. I’ll never forget her saying, “you’re the boss” at my pre-op appointment. She’s absolutely right. It‘s your body. Don’t settle for just any doctor. I highly recommend Dr. Liu to anyone looking for an endometriosis specialist. She performs endometriosis excision, that is the gold standard of treatment. I do my research. I found Dr. Liu on an endometriosis educational Facebook group/website named Nancy’s Nook. Nancy’s Nook works with ICareBetter which is a list of doctors that have been thoroughly screened. This was my first really major surgery. I had endometriosis excision, ovarian cystectomy, total hysterectomy, salpingectomy, an appendectomy, etc. It was performed laparoscopically/vaginally/robotically (minimally invasive surgery as opposed to open surgery). She approved me (a young nulliparous woman) getting a hysterectomy because she rightfully believed me when I said I don’t care about fertility. I have no interest in getting pregnant. I just want to be healthy. I’m so happy I don’t have to cope with the abnormal bleeding any longer. I have no regrets. I wish I could have had it done sooner but I’m pleased that it was Dr. Liu who did it. She acknowledged my medical trauma and provided trauma-informed care. She checked on me before my surgery and after my surgery at Jersey City Medical Center. She called me each day for several days after the surgery too. She always responded to any emails I sent her. She made me feel like I was her only client. She answers all of your questions. She doesn’t rush you out of the room like other doctors tend to do and she actually takes you on time for appointments because she knows that your time matters as much as her time does. She eased the worries of my mom, my caregiver. She genuinely cares about her patients. I am now about 7 weeks post-op and am feeling a lot better. I’m able to go to the bathroom normally! Prior to surgery I was experiencing severe fecal impaction. So the surgery was very successful in treating the disease. As an added bonus, she works with an excellent urological surgeon, Dr. Yaniv Larish. This was super beneficial to me because one of my symptoms was bladder pain. I received her operative report, his operative report, and the pathology report confirming my endometriosis diagnosis as soon as it was available in my patient portal. Dr. Liu wasn’t covered by my insurance, but she was completely worth it. And there is a payment plan option. Her team at Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine still checked with my insurance though and made sure that the hospital and anesthesiologist were in network. The surgical coordinator scheduled a date for my surgery ASAP. Invest in your health. Your health is the most important part of your life. Dr. Liu is a highly skilled gynecological surgeon. I am forever grateful for her. I would definitely give her more than 5 stars if I could. The best decision I ever made was choosing to have my procedure with Dr. Liu. She saved my life.
Dr. Liu is truly one of a kind! She is an attentive, caring, highly knowledgeable, skilled and compassionate doctor. I have suffered with endometriosis for 25 years and was losing all hope of having a quality of life. From the moment I met Dr. Liu at my initial consultation, I knew I was in the best hands. She is extremely thorough, answered all of my questions, and eased all of my fears leading up to the day of my surgery. The morning of my surgery, Dr. Liu came to check on me and after surgery she was always there for me as well. She called me every morning for several days after surgery to see how I was and was always a great source of comfort. I am now six weeks post op and am feeling so much better already! She is an excellent surgeon! My little one even asked me to give Dr. Liu a sticker and tell her she did a “Good job!” at my post op appointment! My family and I will be forever grateful to Dr. Liu for all of her care and support. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an endometriosis specialist.
Dr Liu is everything you could want in a surgeon - extremely knowledgeable, skilled, but also empathetic, kind, and really cares about her patients. This was my second surgery to remove stage 4 endometriosis, and Dr Liu patiently sat through my questions, assuaged my fears, called me daily for the first few days after surgery, and continued to check up via email. She was quick to respond to emails, even on the weekend. I would highly recommend Dr Liu to everyone who is suffering from endometriosis or other gynecological pain.
Dr. Liu is one of the best doctors I have ever had the experience of meeting and receiving treatment/surgery from. She is knowledgable, sincere, genuine, and determined to help people get the relief they need. Her team took care of me with respect and compassion. When I went in for surgery I was not scared and was laughing with the team. They made me feel so comfortable and the surgery was smooth. The surgery was also VERY successful in giving me relief. I know endometriosis is a long term diagnosis, but Dr. Liu makes me feel confident knowing I'm in good hands and I won't be abandoned. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone! 10/10
Dr. Liu validated my experiences after years of pain and a prior surgery that was ineffective in completely removing my endometriosis! The recovery of surgery has been incredible and my pain has significantly reduced from about an 8/10 to a 2-3/10! As someone who felt ignored by an arsenal of doctors and gynaecologists since the age of 12, meeting Dr. Liu has been life changing. I am so so incredibly grateful and would recommend her services and Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine to anyone struggling with pelvic pain!
Had my surgery 6 weeks ago with Dr. Liu and had such a positive experience. I had a very complex case of endo that could have potentially damaged one of my kidneys. Her and my urologist, Dr. Larish, have both been amazing. Performed a very difficult excision surgery on me and completely resolved my kidney issues. I had a consult with another big named excision specialist in the city and I am SO GLAD I waited for Dr. Liu. She answered all of my MANY questions and always made herself available after my surgery. She is very thorough and gave me all my options before surgery. She called to check on me daily after my surgery and that meant a lot. All around great surgeon.
I am so grateful to Dr. Liu and her team for the care they provide not only to me but my family. Dr. Liu is the best, she is knowledgeable, patient and very empathic to her patients. My family and I are truly thankful not only for her grate work as a surgeon but care she provides to cope after surgery.
Dr. Liu is the best of the best. I went to Dr. Liu after an unsuccessful surgery with another surgeon just 7 months before. During our 1st appointment, Dr. Liu listened intently, took a thorough history, did an ultrasound, and ordered an MRI immediately. It was the first time I felt heard. Her surgical coordinator, Julie, was fantastic in setting up my surgery. Julie organized and scheduled the surgery, pre-op tests, insurance, etc. which made preparing for the surgery less stressful. A few days before the surgery, I saw Dr. Liu again to go over the plan and discuss any other questions. After the surgery, Dr. Liu checked up on me 3 times while I was in the recovery room. She then followed up every day for the next few days to see how I was doing. We also touched base weekly in the following weeks because I was still feeling some pain. She gave me an ultrasound again to make sure everything was ok, and guided me on what to do next.Seeing Dr. Liu was a game changer for me. Not only did she understand the complexities of my condition, she helped me manage after healing from surgery so I never felt alone or dropped when something unexpected came up. I felt really cared for. I’ve never met a doctor so thorough and determined to help me succeed. Life improved drastically after the surgery - it was like night and day. I’m forever grateful to Dr. Liu. She’s the real deal and if you decide to go with her you’ll experience kindness and care unlike any other.
I found Dr. Liu on Nancy’s Nook after reading sparkling reviews by many women who have laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. Dr. Liu is so kind and thorough. She spent a ton of time answering all my questions during my consult, pre-operatively, and post-operatively. She called for about 4 days in a row after my procedure and was always available via text message or email! I healed very well otherwise and haven’t had any symptoms thus far!
Dr.Liu is by far the most exceptional medical professional I’ve ever encountered as both a patient and being a health care provider myself. Dr. Liu performed my extensive 5 hour surgery for stage IV endometriosis which had deeply infiltrated my pelvic cavity and reproductive organs. After a 15 year journey to finally receive a diagnosis and the gold standard of treatment (deep excision laparoscopic surgery), Dr.Liu became the shinning the light at the end of a very long and dark tunnel to finally feeling relief from chronic pain and debilitating fatigue. It was an emergency room visit this February 2021 that resulted in finally receiving the diagnostic imaging that demonstrated the extent of damage my endometriosis had caused. After years of frustrating gynecologist appointments when ultrasound testing and or other scans were denied to me despite complaints of 10/10 pain for a week with my period and ongoing symptoms of fatigue, bloating, food intolerances, and chronic lower back pain from age 15 to now being 31 years old. There wasn’t a single doctor that offered a possible diagnosis or solution to my pain other than birth control pills. When I finally received the diagnosis of endometriosis it was several months of research to find the best treatment options. After reading extensively I knew surgery would be my best option to achieve some relief and possibly an end to my chronic pain. Of most importance was being able to start a family as endometriosis is a leading cause of infertility. I met with the best surgeons that specialize in deep excision surgery in New York, most of which were male, until I finally stepped into Dr. Liu’s office and felt not only understood but in the most capable hands. Dr. Liu set aside a great length of time to explain the entire surgery to my husband and I and then answered my list of about 20-30 questions without rushing. What impressed me the most is her continual discussion of my quality of life and how she could best help me achieve my health goals. For the first time, I felt heard and understood as a patient with a chronic illness. Dr. Liu’s office helped me schedule a surgical date right away and assisted me with signing up for a support group for other pre-operative patients with endometriosis. It was so helpful to have a supportive counselor to help me discover coping strategies. Surgery day went just as Dr. Liu had described and I was able to go home on the same day. Recovery was completely manageable despite the anticipated pain and bloating associated with abdominal surgery. Dr. Liu called for several days after surgery to make sure I was doing well. She responded to emails with questions and concerns in an extremely timely manner, reassuring me even further that she is a healthcare hero, being not only a surgeon but a safeguard of her patients health and quality of life after surgery. I’m now 8 weeks post operative and have finally be able to return to exercising after so many years of having to come home and nap after work from sheer fatigue and exhaustion of dealing with debilitating pain. I’ve even noticed a significant reduction in pelvic pain with my period . Where as in the past I might have needed pain medication every 4 hours for 4-5 days to be able to get out of bed and function I have only need 1-2 Tylenol just for the first day of my period and then no cramps for the remainder of the week. That has given me so much relief that not only was the surgery a success on the day of with no complications but that I’m now disease free and able to have a chance at a normal life. Dr.Liu has changed my life in more ways then she will ever know. I would travel across the world to come and have deep excision laparoscopic surgery for my endometriosis with Dr. Liu. If you’re considering surgery for endometriosis please contact her office at Pelvic Medicine Rehabilitation, you will be in the most capable surgical hands with the most compassionate hearted individual. Dr.Liu is truly exceptional.
