Be aware of questionable billing practices. I have been seeing Dr. Gilman for some medical dermatological issues, and I have been overall pleased by my interaction with her. My issues are with billing practices that the clinic follows. During one visit, they performed a biopsy test and give me a couple of stitches, so a subsequent appointment was necessary to remove them. Biopsy results, next steps and so on were discussed in detail by Dr. Gilman over the phone, a couple of days after the test. The only service needed during and requested during visit was the removal of the sutures. For that, I - and my insurance - was charged as a full visit. This was the first time that I have been asked to pay for removal of sutures by any provider and for any reason. The explanation I got from the clinic: “When suture removal is after a surgical excision, the removal of the sutures is part of the procedure. That is not the case after a punch biopsy for a rash when the biopsy is for diagnosis and ongoing medical care is provided.” I find the above nonsensical. What procedure led to me having sutures - surgery or punch biopsy - is irrelevant. What is relevant is that they gave me the sutures and that they need to remove them. The clinic’s explanation, though, is very telling. The only practical difference between surgery and biopsy is that my insurance allows them to charge for surgery, while by contract they are not allowed to charge extra for the biopsy test. So for they charge extra to remove the sutures after a biopsy. They basically find a loophole to be paid extra for the biopsy, masking the charge as suture removal. In my opinion this billing practice is at least unethical.

It's taken me some time to decide to write this review. I am a private person and did not want to talk about a traumatic experience. The only reason I'm writing this is to help other people make informed decisions on who they trust with their body. I have scars from a surgery that made me very insecure. The scars were flat, but had redness to it. I've had lasers done in another state, before I moved that helped significantly to remove the redness. I searched the internet for a while to find a highly rated office. I initially had an appointment with Dr. Long, but the receptionist said to book with Dr. Gilman. The reason was because she's more qualified to handle scar revision as it is a cosmetic procedure. I trusted that. I should have listened to my gut and walked away when her recommendation was an ablative laser. I then mentioned my success with V beam because I did not want to do such a harsh laser treatment. The only thing I wanted to do is reduce the redness as the scars itself were pretty flat. I did not want to lose out on the $300 fee they charge you for a ten min consultation, so I proceeded. I had V beam laser done previously, but she recommended Excel V and said I should have the same result. I knew right away that she used to high of a setting because it hurt so bad I had to have her stop mid procedure. This should have also been a sign for her to maybe look at the settings, but instead she continued on after I had a break. When I got home the area she treated blood blistered and popped and left raw skin. This is absolutely not supposed to happen. After this type of laser treatment your skin is red like a sun burn and within a few days to a week should go back to normal. I contacted the office and they said I should come in and get looked at. Instead of taking accountability, which I was looking for in that moment. Dr. Gilman told me I need more time to heal now and would probably need more treatments. She did have sympathy when I bursted into tears knowing I'm walking out more scarred than when I walked in. However, she did not offer me a refund or even free or discounted treatments to correct what she did to me. It was not until I sent in a complaint with photos of my scarred skin (now 3x as big, reddish purple, and raised) to the office about my situation that they finally refunded me. After that situation Dr. Gilman did try and call me, but I did not want to speak with her. The office wanted me to see another Dr at the same office to see what they can do about it. They called it a " a rare side effect". Absolutely not, it was inexperience with my skin type and using too high of a setting, which then caused my skin to be burned to the point it sloshed off and left raised red scars. If Dr. Gilman tried to rectify the situation when I first came in with an apology and immediate refund and game plan on how she was going to correct what she did I would not even be writing this review. I have since left that office and I now have to pay another Dr and do more treatments than I initially would have to correct this. I'm going to include one close up photo of how my skin looked like once the blister popped, but the scar is in a private area that I am not comfortable showing. Please do your research and trust your gut. Look for drs who can show you real before and after photos and ask a lot of questions.

First time going to this place accompanying my wife. Worst place ever. The staff are the worst specifically pointing out Meriel from the front desk her attitude is disgusting. I do not recommend going to this place they treat their patients like garbage.

They do not know what they are doing. They do not know how to handle their billing either. Do not recommend at all!

Dr. Wendy Long Mitchell is the best doctor by far. She is honest, straightforward and kind. She is someone to be trusted.

Very professional - knowledgeable, thorough, efficient, and courteous. Dermatologists succinctly explain procedures, and what to expect from the treatment, if any, and care and maintenance of skin. Non-medical staff also is very professional - knowledgeable, thorough, efficient, and courteous.

Dr. Wendy is amazing. She is thorough, professional, and compassionate. So lucky to have her as a dermatologist.

Staff was efficient and professional as well as friendly. This was my first time at this practice.
