I scheduled an appointment with this doctor two weeks in advance and even received three separate confirmation calls from the clinic. Then, just an hour and a half before my appointment, the office called to cancel, citing that the doctor had an “emergency surgery.” Having worked in healthcare myself, I know this is often a common excuse when a doctor doesn’t want to accept certain insurance plans or is running behind schedule. Regardless of the reason, it’s unprofessional to cancel on a confirmed patient at the last minute. I will not be returning. Shame on this clinic for wasting patients’ time and failing to respect their commitments.

Dr. Cooney spent far more time with me, patiently explaining in detail the nature of my problem and how he can treat it, than any doctor has ever done. I understand my condition so much more clearly than I ever have. I'm so grateful I found him, and have complete confidence in him.

Dr. Cooney is hands down the best ophthalmologist . Very professional and gives very practical solutions. Went to see him for Dry eyes and his recommendations really helped. His office staff is highly professional too.

NO RESPONSES, FEEDBACK OR ASSISTANCE FROM VRMNY I have seen every doctor at this location at 110 Lafayette street for a few years. My last visit, with this doctor was so rushed, did not help, and did not respond to a message for an update when I was still having issues. I will NOT go back here ever again, and the doctors here, see you for one minute, and it is the assistants who do most of the work. In addition, they try to get you to pay for many out-of-pocket procedures and products, which I do not mind, but do not help. I expected better from a specialist. My advice - go somewhere else. I regret to say this but it is all true.

I’m so glad for my choice!) What a warming experience. Staff was very pleasant and welcoming. Wait time was appropriate. But overall the top tier experience was with Dr Cooney he was so welcoming knowledgeable and reassuring. He put my mind at ease about the issue I was having with my eye at the moment. I highly recommend this place for eye care.

Dr Cooney is by far the most knowledgeable and experienced doctor I’ve ever met and yet with all his experience he’s very careful and thorough.Very attentive, understanding and shows so much empathy. he’s super honest and straight to the point. A national treasure.

Dr. Michael Cooney was dismissive and arrogant, making his patients feel rushed, minimized, and unheard. He sat with his legs crossed, arms crossed, leaning back. He dismisses your case and shuts down any follow up questions. I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND such an unprofessional and harsh provider.

Would NOT Recommend I came in for an appointment at 2:30 pm and didn’t get to see Dr. Cooney until 4:00 pm. He sat with his legs crossed, arms crossed, leaning back. After dismissing my case and interrupting me multiple times, he replied “I see cases like you all the time” and “it is what it is” were his explanations despite my follow up questions. Strongly do not recommend such unprofessional and dismissive provider.

Great doctor! Very happy with my experience getting LASIK with Dr. Cooney. The medical care and service of Dr. Cooney and his staff are top-notch. The procedure was painless and I felt very safe and taken care of the entire time.
