List of Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Center's Reviews
High‑risk patient left without care due to insurance and scheduling failures I am sharing my experience to highlight serious systemic issues within Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Center's Comprehensive Evaluation Services. Despite a physician and therapist referral and an intake completed in late December, I encountered repeated delays, inconsistent insurance information, and a complete lack of continuity of care. Changes in accepted insurance plans at this location directly resulted in me losing coverage for the month of January, with no assistance offered despite the known risks of treatment interruption. As of January 13, 2026, I was informed there may be no appointment availability in February, months after intake. For a mental health facility serving high‑risk patients, this level of disorganization and lack of patient support is unacceptable. Patients in crisis should not be left navigating insurance gaps and indefinite wait times without guidance or compassion.
I had a bad initial review of Mount Sinai behavioral health but because my Psychiatrist is very caring and has great bedside manner I will update my review and give them 5 stars they did make things right once I got my insurance fixed. I will say this the system with health insurance in the mix really makes getting help for mental health very difficult. I’m glad I was able to get things fixed and have a great caring psychiatric provider. So because of my good experience this month I have changed my review to be positive. The location is very clean and staff on the second floor is very friendly and helped me get a primary care doctor at this location so thank you to the team on the second floor.
Unfortunately, I can’t recommend the psychiatry department based on my experience. I worked with two doctors and often felt unheard. It was hard to get in touch with anyone, calls to the front desk were often unanswered or dropped, and getting a callback was difficult. When my doctor was out of the office, I sometimes felt unsure about who was actually covering my care. The office itself is clean and pretty at least
It's incredible to see how the review I wrote last month was quick to be removed/obscured, probably most notably for exposing the fact that MOUNT SINAI BHC was responsible for a DIRECT PHYSICAL SEXUAL ASSAULT that occurred from patient to patient during my stay. I can imagine, as a doctor in psychiatry myself, as to why they would not want their name attached to such an illegal action to take place in a HOSPITAL facility that has the sole job of protecting patients. This absolutely occurred, was acknowledged by hospital staff to myself as well when my safety was jeopardized. Though they may do whatever means necessary to prevent this from getting out, either by silencing reviews or otherwise, as a mandated reporter MYSELF, I *REFUSE* to allow others be placed in the way of harm. SEXUAL ASSAULTS HAVE OCCURRED HERE AS RECENTLY AS WITHIN THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS. This is NOT a safe institution!!!! This is despicable and my concerns relayed to patient relations were only further insulting of what truly transpired and as a matter of PROTECTION over their BUSINESS. Mt Sinai needs to learn PATIENTS OVER PROFIT. I will continue to pursue this unacceptable treatment of humans, especially within a hospital setting. And you wonder why nurses in NYC are on strike in the THOUSANDS... Happy to provide a photo of the response I received by patient relations in how they minimize, invalidate and attempt to protect their institution which is causing direct patient harm- as I witnessed, experienced and was told first hand even by medical staff. Thank you.
Better and best service administration
It's hard to believe that as a patient at this facility. I'm calling to reschedule an appointment and either no answers the phone or the calls are dropped or better yet wait time is ridiculous and then you get cut off. Do better Mount Sinai !!! You give the number to this facility and all you get is the runaround. And to think patients call when they need assistance and can't obtain any. After 6 years of being a patient at the psych department this is extremely poor service. Definitely not recommending this location or attending it anymore. Do Not Recommend F +++++
I went in pretty willingly to get help with my drinking. The staff was so loud at night, so sleeping was hard, the men were loud and obnoxious, and would comment on my body and what I ate. They give you HUGE portions to eat here, and if you don't eat it all you feel uncomfortable. There seemingly was no one there that wanted to talk about drinking and recovery- I was thrown into a bin of wanderers who were loud, obnoxious, and didn't even care so long as they were getting fed and could play dominos. I left early after being triggered about my weight. I didn't come here for that. I came to get help with drinking. The staff also seemed arrogant and generally disinterested. This place makes you crave food, because there's so many clocks and only so many wordsearchs you can do... And coloring pages...? Pass. The headphones were nice though. If it's your fist time going to detox, don't come here. It was like a high school for wayward children where everyone is loud and fights over crayons. Go somewhere if money allows that's private and really pin points why your there.
Had asked for a new therapist because the one I had was condescending and rude. Very disrespectful and her bosses forced me to work with her. I don't think or feel that this is a good place for people.
This was one of the most difficult and disappointing experiences I've had with a healthcare provider. I felt that certain therapeutic approaches used here--particularly by Dr. Kseniia Gvozdieva--were emotionally unsafe and lacked empathy. In my experience, concerns about boundary issues were not taken seriously, and efforts to advocate for myself were met with resistance rather than support. From what I observed, I was not alone in this experience. Several participants appeared to share similar discomfort, and there seemed to be a pattern of people having negative interactions with this provider. These issues were not openly addressed. Attempts to escalate my own concerns to leadership, including the department chair, were met with silence. I received no meaningful acknowledgment or follow-up. That lack of accountability was especially painful. In my opinion, this is not a safe or supportive environment for healing. I left the program feeling unheard, dismissed, and worse off than when I started. I hope others are treated with more care and respect than I was.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
