Nyu Langone Bariatric Surgery Associates's Online Review Report Card

I have an umbilical wound due to them messing up the surgery. I went to ask for a solution and they suggested another bariatric surgery. That's fine but they want me to get a referral. I need a referral to fix your mistake???? They are only interested in chopping you. Nothing else. I am taking further action. I am leaking out of my stomach and they don't care.

This practice is a mess. To be sure, my doctor did a fine job with the gastric surgery itself (Dr. T) but the after care is a joke. The dietitians they give you are not credible in my opinion. I’m 140 lbs and they’re telling me to eat 2,800 calories a day which is WAY too many. When I first started the program and asked about preparing food since I usually got takeout, they told me to walk to get takeout because it’s a form of exercise. Imagine telling someone who just had bariatric surgery it’s Ok to walk to McDonalds? Just awful advice. Not to mention the dietitians are always changing so you can’t seem to stick with one. Further, when you send a MyChart message to the surgeon they usually get intercepted by some nurse who gives you half an answer. They say this program is a lifetime relationship, if they want it to be that way they need to step up their game. I’m terrified I’ll gain the weight back because the support has been so poor.

I've been with this practice 10 years now and have had great success. I've never encountered any rudeness etc. Dr. Ren performed my procedure and I see Dr. Lofton for follow up. The one thing I will say it that is takes way too long to get in to see the doctor of your choice. The NP is much more accessible but I prefer to meet with the provider I have a relationship with. But I recommend this practice.

Charging $355 for nutritional program. If you decide to not go through with process they keep the money. No thank you!

I started with them back in December. I lost over 35 pounds. The reason for the one star is because they don't care for patients. It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to keep an appointment because the people that work at this center always leave. There is a constant turn over of employees. I have met with 5 different nutritionist because they are constantly leaving the practice. The front desk has no knowledge of the program.The response I usually get is "I don't know. Let me follow up with you" BOOM no-one follows up. Start the program and we will get you an appointment with a nutritionist at the start of the program - well they have no appointments till 2 months in because of the high turn over they have. It's a money grabbing place. The manager for the office is impossible to get hold off when you express issues - The only way to speak with her is to just show up at NYU unannounced. The place has a great program but overall the people that work here are not professional.

Reviews of a “chop shop” that I’ve seen are unfortunately correct. Disgusted by this program. Had high hopes.

Unkind, unorganized and rude people work here. thru the entire process the admin people treats you as if they were doing you a favor. Things that should extremely simple become a huge complication because they forgot to do one thing or another. Stay away from this place. You will be thankful you did so.

The worst bariatric program in NYC. They only care to help those whose weight has them near death than others who are may not be as obese but are obese nonetheless. They do not help to inform clients but instead have you call their office incessantly like your begging. Lendita and the other staff are the worst with hospitality and getting back to clients. I stopped coming and no one noticed enough to reach out or call and inquire. They only care about who they think they can get the most insurance money from. Go somewhere else where they can treat you like you matter and they want to help. Wish I could give zero stars.

HORRIBLE! Waiting time is ridiculous, you better off come late for your appointment time because you won’t be seen on that time anyways! Smh waste of day!

I was with them for 10 years, watched their office and patients grow. I had one replacement band and now a port revision. The one star because they have seemingly turned into a chop shop. See how fast we can cycle patients in and out of the operation room. They are going so fast that they don't take the time to make sure their patients are thoroughly informed. It's really disappointing, and super hard to switch doctors with a lapband.
