AMY SHAPIRO DESERVES 10 STARS! Until I started working with Amy, I knew little about good healthy nutrition. Yes, I knew what my doctor preached, what I read in newspapers, heard on TV, and discussed with friends - but NOTHING was tailor made for my needs and my life-style! Then I connected with Amy Shapiro. My life changed! We devised a dietary plan to meet my needs and goals - and dietary restrictions. Amy recognizes that all of her clients have different goals - and she orchestrates programs for us all....No two people are the same - and Amy just GETS IT!!!! Without a doubt, Amy is one of the most thoughtful, supportive team players I have ever met. My achievements become her achievements - and my difficult bumps in the road are the times for her to take time for encouragement, and to introduce new avenues to approach the weight loss and dietary plan. Amy is assessable 24/7 - and there is never a question too challenging - or too banal to tackle. She is an encyclopedia of dietary knowledge. When she says she will get back to me - she is true to her word..... My heartfelt thanks will always land in Amy Shapiro's lap...Not because she got me to love an 11 second egg - (I'm working on 10 seconds) but because I lost weight with joy. My blood stats are normal and the process continues... I love having Amy Shapiro by my side to maintain, encourage, and to be my biggest supporter.....as she is for all..... THERE IS NO OTHER NUTRITIONIST LIKE HER! AMY SHAPIRO DESERVES 10 STARS! Until I started working with Amy, I knew little about good healthy nutrition. We had Amy do a seminar in our office about Nutrition Basics and healthy office living, and it was excellent! Amy really hones in on realistic and approachable healthy habits, and our employees really took away a great deal. Can't recommend her enough!
I love Amy's perspective on nutrition and overall health - it really helped me unlearn certain bad habits. Thank you, Amy + team!
I have absolutely loved working with Amy at Real Nutrition NYC - she has provided such sustainable, customized guidance and is so incredibly supportive and available to address my ongoing needs and goals. I highly recommend that for anyone seeking an extra layer of support that they reach out to Amy.
Horrible experience and a waste of time and money. I don’t recommend Amy Shapiro. I paid $650 for the initial consultation + 1 follow up. I was extremely disappointed and unhappy by the experience because I did not get what I paid for: 1. She promised accountability but didn’t deliver 2. She doesn’t seem to read, remember, or bother to refer to the personal information in the forms she makes you fill out, like your food preferences etc. 3. She doesn’t scientifically track progress or improvement I was hoping for a professional nutritionist who could help me with weight management with a focus on accountability and encouragement. Instead, Amy sent me basic diet instructions through an app, and didn’t follow up to see how I was doing. Unlike other nutritionists that I have worked with, she didn’t bother to get my weight or my measurements, which was confusing. How was she going to track my progress or improvement? I first contacted Amy for her free 15 min consultation. I told her that I needed someone to encourage me and keep me on track. She said yes, accountability was an important part of her work. From our phone conversation, I felt comfortable enough to purchase the $650 package. It’s ironic that on her website she writes “Through personal counseling sessions and continued support we provide accountability and get results through science and strategy.” In all our interactions there was no evidence of any of that. I went to meet her for the initial consultation at a co-working space in Soho. Before this meeting, I completed a lot of forms about my goals, the foods I liked and didn’t like, and a food journal covering recent days. I was surprised that when we met, she hadn’t looked at my forms in advance, and we spent an hour going through them. After the session, she told me: ⁃ Breakfast: Add protein powder or chia seeds to my smoothies, switch to Ezekiel toast. ⁃ Lunch and Dinner: She said I was doing fine. Just eat less carbs. ⁃ Start a food journal. ⁃ When I followed up and asked for recipe recommendations, she didn’t bother to refer to the info I had already provided, and she asked me again about the foods I liked. Which shows that she doesn’t put much effort or pay attention to what you say. For $650, those seem like VERY basic instructions and an appallingly poor level of service. She makes it difficult for you to follow her instructions because they come in text messages through her Healthie App, which is hard to reference since you can’t print them out. If you need to look up anything from her, you have to open up the app and look through your chat history to find it. What’s the point of an app if you’re just sending someone text messages? Given the price she charges, I was expecting someone more professional, who would provide recommendations in PDFs that could be printed out and referred to. Because of all this, I told her that I didn’t want to schedule my follow-up appointment. I expressed my disappointment and provided all the reasons above, especially the lack of accountability and personalization. She refunded me $300 for the follow-up appointment but refused to refund me $350 for the initial consultation. I think that’s very unfair since she promised many things in our phone call but didn’t deliver after I paid her the $650. I feel misled. She said she had to charge me the $350 for her time. Which was the time we walked through the forms I completed. I asked that if she was going to keep the $350 for the 60 minutes, could she explain what she did with the information we discussed? Since she didn’t even remember basic things like the foods I liked and didn’t like? She has ghosted me since. If you’re ever unhappy with a service because you don’t get what you paid for, they always make it right, be it a restaurant, hotel, store, or someone who is supposed to provide a personalized service. Despite the horrible experience, Amy refuses to make it right. I had high expectations and was excited to work with Amy, but this was a complete waste of money and time. Amy Shapiro, Real Nutrition NYC, is the real deal. I came to her at the beginning of July hoping to lose 18 pounds. She fashioned a very doable food plan for me. Within four months I lost 25 pounds. Very happy with Amy's approach and my new bod.
Great service, super helpful. The guy at the counter knew his stuff and gave great recommendations. Free samples of products too! Found my pre workout for a great deal here.

I was slightly hesitant to invest money in a nutritionist, BUT after only a weeks of meeting with Amy, I feel so much better. She is easy-going, kind, and gave me great ideas about to how tweak my diet and exercise routine. I even fit into a shirt from my bachelorette party almost 10 years ago!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
