Robert James Auerbach's Online Review Report Card

I must have interacted with a different Dr. Auerbach than everyone else here. Condescending, rude, talks over you, and tries to spend more of your money in the name of (as he'll continually interrupt you to emphasize) trying to save you money. Weirdest experience of my life.

Dr. Auerbach is very kind and intelligent doctor . I have referred many of my friends to him and everyone loves him . He has a wonderful chair side manner. The best is all I can say.

Dr. Auerbach is a fantastic ophthalmologist! I've been seeing him for a few years now and he's always able to accurately and quickly diagnose any eye issue I'm dealing with. Since switching to contacts I've had a couple eye issues that have popped up.It's always good to visit as Dr. Auerbach is actually really funny and good conversationalist. Beyond that though he is extremely knowledgeable in his field and very skilled at breaking down diagnoses.Lastly, the office manager is really nice too. Overall great eye dr experience.

This man saved my eye. Bottom line, bought a plant, plant punctured my eye, this doctor saved it. And I can still see. Miracle worker and will recommend him for the rest of my life.

Amazing experience! Both Dr Auerbach and Paula get 2 thumbs up! First off, I was super late to my appointment thanks to the MTA and the delays we all experience and Paula was still very accommodating and assured me that it was ok to still come to the appt. I felt terrible but she was superb and made me feel relaxed. I'm normally very punctual as i understand they have operations to run; so to me running 30mins late to an appt is unacceptable but she was a gem about it. Thank you for making me feel like a human being after being tortured by the MTA. ;-) As for Dr. Auerbach - TOP NOTCH!! Professional, kind, thorough and best of all Honest!! Also has a great sense of humor! I have been to previous ophthalmologist but none have ever been this informative. He took his time to explain everything and i wasnt rushed at all even after running late and me being his last patient. He made sure i had all of my questions answered before leaving. Amazing! Strongly recommend.

Doctor Auerback was very professional and efficient. The only surprise was  my insurance did not cover Eyeglass prescription , contact lenses prescription and the copay was very high. In the end I paid double than at a regular eye glass shop.

My girlfriend and I both had a wonderful experience with Doctor Auerbach. The office manager was very kind and balanced multiple visitors in the waiting room, paperwork, and phone calls simultaneously without sparing courtesy. Doctor Auerbach was extremely thorough in his exam. More impressive, though, was his commitment to being fair and honest. He made sure we knew the expense of the visit before doing anything and advised us on how to find affordable eyeglasses. I expected a slightly uncomfortable experience but ended up having a twenty minute conversation about literature and a great eye exam to boot!

You will never have a more thoughtful or thorough eye exam and the follow up is tremendous.  Very easy to get an appointment through ZocDoc although I am sure calling the ultra helpful Paula would be just as easy.  I waited only 5 minutes and had an exam lasting over an hour which was more extensive than I've ever had before.  Turns out my prescription had been wrong for some time which was a big surprise to me.  We tried on a couple of different lenses in my size and went to another room to see across the street as well as short distances.  Ultimately settled on one lens and Dr. Auerbach gave me some samples to try but did not put any pressure on me to order directly from him.  (I ordered the minimum from Cohen's because I need them pretty much immediately but will order the rest from him.)During my visit, Paula called my insurance company to find out exactly what was covered so I was all set by the time I came out.As if the service I received at my visit was not exceptional enough, I happened to need a couple of follow up conversations the next day as my insurance would not cover my prescription (pathetic) and I also needed to order lenses.  It was Dr. Auerbach's day off but he called me three times as well as calling both Duane Reade and Cohen's.Have already recommended him to two people and it's been less than 24 hours since my appointment!

Great experience with Dr. Auerbach. He was very thorough, and explained everything in a way that I could understand. Highly recommended.
