Robin S. Goland's Online Review Report Card

I saw Dr. Goland for a virtual consultation for alternative treatment from my general endocrinologist. As head of the Naomi Berrie Diabetes center at Columbia, her opinion carries a lot of weight. Rather than drawing out the appointment for unnecessary time and trying to promise superior results, she gave her honest opinion and was really transparent about my current provider. I definitely appreciate providers who are qualified to have big egos, yet do not show that in any manner. I would definitely recommend her for new patients.

She is not a compassionate doctor. She treats patients as a number and not as a person.

Worse provider. Will not see you until you have taken three diabetic introduction courses at the Naomi Berrie Center. Courses were a waste of time. Office staff was rude and unprofessional.

Hideous interpersonal skills. Extremely condescending and dismissive when contacted during an emergency.

What a shame that a diabetic center that can offer so much is managed so poorly. As a physician, Dr. Goland manages the center and sees her own patients. She treated me poorly and made no excuse for the center's lack of ability to see patients on a timely basis. Her advice was to use my general practitioner.

Horrible experience. Incredibly arrogant. Doesn't listen, thinks she has the answers without listening to what the patient has to say. Won't even consider that there's something she doesn't know. She's created a culture there where patients are not respected and not trusted to provide accurate, useful information about their own conditions. Worse than a waste of time seeing her or going to the center.

I see Dr. Goland at the Neomi Berrie Diabetes center... At first she was distant & a little cold... But now 8 years later she is always happy to see me & hear what’s new in my life. Whenever my A1C is lower she gives me a high five... One time she even wanted to parade me through the office! Another time my A1C skyrocketed she took the time to find out what was going on in my life. When she heard I was under a tremendous amount of stress, she just chalked the A1C up to Life Sucks... and we laughed. Dr. Goland has a great team of people who work at the center if you need handholding and a more caring ear talk to the Nutritionist or Diabetes Educator... Otherwise Dr. Goland keeps it brief and professional.

she has a lot of her own issues and unfortunately can't separae the two. she treats her office like a gold mine and you aren't allowed to touch anything. she sends you to the nurses for care and she just listens when you come in to her office but does nothing cliniczally. very disappointing experience.

The first (and last) time I saw Dr. Goland, I waited for over an hour to see her. During our appointment, she was so unbelievably rude that when I was leaving, I sat down in the stairwell and cried. One of her staff found me, and suggested that I talk to a social worker. When she found out, Dr. Goland informed me that she wouldn’t have me waste the time of her social worker, and then proceeded to have me forcefully removed from the building by security. (I felt so helpless. In my life, I have NEVER been treated so cruelly.) Also, during the appointment, she said that diabetes was not a disabling condition. (We can lose our limbs, eyesight, and kidneys, and it’s not a disabling condition???)

Dr. Goland is very nice if you have no problems. however if you encounter an emergency avoid her by all means. She is not helpfull and is angry if you call her after office hours.
