Seth Resnick's Online Review Report Card

Going to a psychiatrist means you've got serious concerns about your own well-being and are willing to begin treatment, hoping for the best. You want a knowledgeable doctor that's going to try to understand and help. I saw Dr. Resnick from 2019-2021. He was routinely 15-45 minutes late with no explanation or apology. (Before our first appt. I had been waiting an hour after coming back later that day because he had been so backed up around the time of my original appt. -- he went to an office party first, right in front of me, before beginning my already hours-delayed appt.) Within 5 minutes of our first session, I could tell he was not even slightly invested. He didn't make eye contact. He was robotic. He was smarmy. That did not change after the first session and made me wonder if he has some contempt for his chosen profession, or me, or his patients in general, or a mix--I'm not sure. This continued throughout our sessions. I take responsibility for staying with him for two years. I'm not sure why I did. He only spoke about what was going on in terms of my medication, and not life. (In his defense, this is something I hear is common among psychiatrists.) However, once he prescribed a certain medication and a certain dosage he did everything he could to discourage testing different dosages and medications even though my feedback was not positive. I'm not sure if the status quo he strove for was a matter of laziness, but he never had good answers to questions about medication. I couldn't get good answers until I started seeing someone else. This made me wonder if perhaps he was not up-to-date on the newest research--I'm not sure. Dr. Resnick was often difficult to reach and there were instances where prescriptions were not refilled on time, resulting in uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms. This was the scary part of being his patient. But perhaps worst of all, after I posted a poor review on his company's Google profile he captured my personal information (home address and phone #) from his employer, AdvantageCare's records; then left me a 97-second voicemail I did not listen to within minutes of posting the review; then had his lawyers send me a threatening letter to my home address. Notice that Dr. Resnick responds to negative online reviews in a few ways: -Non-apology (e.g., "I'm sorry YOU felt") -Gaslighting (e.g., "I always strive to do XYZ for my patients", even though patient accounts are contradictory) -Dismissal (e.g., "This review is from a patient who saw me at a different practice than they are commenting on and thus does not apply to me") -Unethically (gives himself or has a family member give him 5-star reviews) Most of these methods of interaction sum up what it's like being his patient: uncomfortable, unsatisfying, and unpleasant.

HIS OFFICE DOES NOT WRITE DOWN NOTES OF COMMUNICATION, TO COVER FOR DR RESNICK. I know this to be true because the way he had written the order was not clear, and therefore was going to be denied by insurance (obviously). When my pharmacy tried to contact the office for clarification (documented outreach), they refused to get back to her and have been gaslighting me ever since. (The office person told me that "these head disorders are something I have to work on on my own") ...just wow.

I've never had such a bad experience with a doctor. He was late to the appointment and then I gave him my history. He recommended I get a neuropsych to diagnose me with ADHD because he is not a "quack". I am a Social Worker and have worked with many psychiatrist in the past and never have they ever required a Neuropsych for a diagnosis since they are extremely expensive, it is rare that insurance covers them and they are very extensive. I gave him my reasons why I don't feel comfortable with a neuropsych because of time and money and expressed concern that within a neuropsych the information documented is much more in detail versus speaking with your psychiatrist or having a therapy session. He then focused on why I would be so concerned about what is documented and I expressed worry of my vulnerability of explaining past traumas in life being written in detail in a neuropsych and who may have access to it. He then started calling me defensive after throwing in my face something I told him earlier when I was being honest, open, and vulnerable. It is unfortunate because I was looking forward to finally being able to see someone covered by my insurance because Psychiatrists are super expensive. I am a woman of color who works in the field. The way he spoke to me was condescending and then when I tried to keep saying never mind he kept probing and making me feel uncomfortable. Dr. Resnick, you need to learn how to speak to people especially people of color and who may have experienced trauma and try to take a trauma based approach. You made me feel uncomfortable and then for you to make me feel like you're dangling that you're basically the key to me getting the care I need and the care that has been working for me is highly unprofessional. It took me years to try and come to terms with getting this type of support and you just re-traumatized me.

Seth Resnick is pure smarm (insincere charm). His smile is a thin veil of contempt for his job, his patients, and (perhaps) even himself. And - he's consistently late to appointments without an explanation or apology. Unpleasant experience.

Actually scared me to death from his yelling at me at 9:15 at night- he said I didn't advise him of me taking sleep meds when he prescribed high dose of seroquel. I could have OD'd. I was open and honest and felt misunderstood. Implied I had withheld info from him??? I dont need that type of physician especially at these prices. Didn't feel cared for or about. Good Luck to Dr Resnick because his manner leaves alot to be desired.

Worst psychiatrist I've ever encountered. 20 minutes late. Accused me of being "ageist". Belittled me for dragging my feet in taking so long to make an appointment with a new dr. after losing my insurance. Finally, in trying to explain why it took so long, he was skeptical of me saying it felt like "doors being slammed in my face" when the myriad efforts I made to find a dr. was met with rejection of my medicaid managed insurance or being told doctors were not taking new patients. Totally unsympathetic and inappropriate.
