List of Steady Nyc's Reviews
I took up multiple therapy sessions with Shelby and left feeling disrespected and emotionally invalidated. Yesterday, I came in sharing my emotional growth wins—growth that I told her I’ve wanted since our first session—yet she seemed almost annoyed by it. Her facial expression completely dropped and her responses lacked empathy and support. Looking back, I see that I was more emotionally considerate of her than she ever was of me. She made dismissive comments that crossed clear boundaries, and at times I felt more like I was being challenged or antagonized than supported. Instead of feeling heard, I often felt like I had to defend myself in a space that was supposed to be safe. Shelby did not create an environment of warmth or advocacy—only judgment. I wanted her to be my therapist because she presented herself to be a strong minded individual, but I never imagined she would end up using her strong personality to try to put me down. If this is how she responds to a client with emotionally steadiness, I worry deeply for anyone who comes to her with emotional fragility. I spent so much money on someone who embodied exactly the kind of energy I came to therapy to heal from. Just because I stayed respectful in times where my emotions were dismissed, it shouldn’t have made her feel entitled to treat a client with contempt and disrespect. I didn’t deserve this. I do not recommend Shelby to anyone seeking support or empowerment.
Julie Gayer-Kris has a unique ability to make people comfortable, even when talking about difficult things. She listens with empathy and without judgement, and even finds appropriate ways to weave in humor, which I appreciate so much. Julie has a talent helping to manage anxiety, by guiding you to not just come to realizations about your anxious thoughts, but also concrete things you can do to keep moving forward in a new direction - this brings so much relief and healing. I always feel better after talking to Julie!
I have known several therapists over the years, and Julie Gayer Kris is certainly special. I consulted her when my husband was in advanced stages of dementia, and she provided invaluable support and guidance, creating a safe, compassionate and supportive environment where I felt heard and understood. She has an extraordinary ability to listen deeply and provide insights that resonated with me, helping me navigate the emotional challenges and find the strength and patience within me to deal with his condition. She also guided me to resources for both my husband and myself, and her holistic approach made a significant difference in managing the day-to-day realities of dementia care. When he died, she came to his memorial, and while we are not now consulting professionally, she continues to check in. I highly recommend her.
Julie is a compassionate, understanding, and insightful therapist. She has helped me navigate so many twists and turns in the complex life of a parent, as well as given me the space and time to explore ongoing issues both in my professional and private life. I would recommend her to anyone without hesitation.
I have known Kathryn Grooms for many years as a colleague and can say that her work as a clinician and consultant is exemplary. Her knowledge and expertise is inspiring and I have frequently benefited from her insight and advice. She is warm, caring, and attuned. I refer clients to her without hesitation, knowing that they are in safe hands.
Kathryn Grooms is a trusted colleague and a great clinician. She is smart, insightful, highly skilled and passionate about her work.
Kathryn assisted me at the NYC Attachment Focused EMDR Training recently (I am the trainer). She embodied a grounded directness and clarity which enhanced the students' experience.
Shelby Remillard and the team have a tremendous amount of clinical experience and knowledge within the field of Trauma in the tristate area. They are trained in EMDR is a profound tool changing my life and the lives of many people I know.
Jessica exudes such a warm and calming presence. Her compassionate and encouraging approach creates an environment that fosters trust and eases the process of opening up. Highly recommend Jessica as a therapist!
I was considering therapy for some time but after my mom passed last year that really pushed me to seek it out. I didn't really know where to look so I googled grief therapy and found Steady NYC. They had a virtual option which was great and it was easy to set up a consultation. I was asked a bunch of questions and due to some financial restrictions was paired with their current intern Jessica. She is fantastic!! I feel so fortunate to have found her, I know sometimes you have to go through a few therapists to find a good match. Jessica has such a calming presence, she really took me through those first few months of grief ( I started therapy about a month and half after my mom passed). I experienced some other challenging events last year which compounded my grief and she created a truly safe space for me to express my feelings and work through the events of my life. I really feel like therapy helped me to move through the last year. I have a great (although small) support system and therapy was such a great addition. I've been with Jessica for about a year and half now and I'm very grateful for her and Steady NYC. In terms of logistics it's easy to navigate their website and pay for services. They send out email reminders for appointments and it's very easy to communicate. In general I feel like this place aligns with my core values and provides quality services.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
