List of Sunrise At East 56Th's Reviews
My husband was admitted to Sunrise from his hospital stay. He had been diagnosed with cancer and immediately went on hospice care. The staff at Sunrise couldn't have done more in caring for his every need. They treated his with kindness and compassion. Sunrise helped me through a very painful time and I am forever thankful I picked this place.
I am eternally grateful for the exceptional care and compassion demonstrated by the Sunrise team during my father's respite care stay. Given the severity of his traumatic brain injury, finding an assisted living facility capable of offering the necessary level of care and ensuring our peace of mind was challenging. The care managers went above and beyond, assisting with all daily living activities and treating him as if he were a member of their own family. If your loved one is at Sunrise on East 56th, rest assured they are in the best possible hands.
Beware of Sunrise Living in Midtown Manhattan!!! I wish I could say my experience with Sunrise Living in Midtown Manhattan was a positive one, but unfortunately, I cannot overlook the glaring issues that make me hesitant to recommend this facility for your loved ones. One of the most concerning aspects is the shockingly low staff-to-patient ratio. It's disheartening to witness nurses overwhelmed with the sheer number of patients they are expected to care for. This not only compromises the quality of care but also puts patients in potential danger. The management's refusal to address this issue by hiring additional staff is both baffling and irresponsible. What adds to the frustration is the management's warning to staff against working overtime. While this may be an attempt to manage costs, it ultimately jeopardizes the well-being of residents. It's unsettling to think that the people responsible for the care of our loved ones are being discouraged from putting in extra hours when it's clearly needed. Overall, I strongly advise anyone considering Sunrise Living in Midtown Manhattan to think twice before making such an important decision. The issues with staffing and management decisions pose serious concerns for the safety and well-being of residents. It's crucial to explore other options and find a facility that prioritizes the needs of its residents over cost-cutting measures.
What a pleasure and relief it was as children of an aging parent to find this facility. Not only is it beautiful, but the staffing excels. We were looking for is a place that would give our mom dignity as she ages - and Sunrise definitely exceeded our expectations. We appreciated that individuals could be as social or as independent as they choose. Rooms are stunning (as are the communal areas). Sunrise offers dining that encourages family/friends to come visit for delicious meals in a beautiful setting with a great daily changing menu (cocktails available!). They offer many other amenities, ie: PT, hair salon, art room, private, meeting, rooms, wifi, etc.). We especially appreciate that all patients are given a wristband to contact help as needed, and each room is equipped with a voice control request aid for help (think Alexa). What a clever idea to make someone feel that they are in a hotel rather than an aging facility. Sunrise obviously gave a lot of thought into this facility and I cannot think of anything that is lacking. We met with Paige and she answered all of our questions and provided answers and added some we hadn’t thought (very knowledgeable). My daughter joked and said that I need to put myself on a waitlist. I think I may!
Sunrise has a great location and super staffing!
Exceptional living experience! I’ve been a resident since April here and I’ve had such a good experience. Everyone is so nice and tremendous care from my care managers, nurse and good dining options. Not a day goes by that I don’t receive the best TLC -tender love and care.
My 96 year old aunt spent the last 2 1/2 months of her wonderful life as a dementia patient on the Reminiscence floor at Sunrise@east56th. Everything about this facility and operation is first class. It's basically a nice new hotel with nurses stations-and a top notch staff that made her stay a good one prior to her passing this week. Highly recommend-you get what you pay for!
Mom and I are so happy @Sunrise56. From our first impression by leaders & care managers who we observed smiling with each other & residents, they made us feel so welcomed into their special family. They are so friendly, engaging, caring and great communicators who welcome family collaboration & interaction. Its inspiring to see the 1:1 attention given to add spark again to mom's daily life, personalizing her experience to draw out the best in her. There's been so much positive energy going on in her short time she's been there ---she's really excited and that's such a wonderful feeling to see quality and happiness you each provide for her life
I called them to follow up on a job application and the guy on the phone was extremely rude. Seems like he hates his job, if you hate your job, why are you working there?
The reception Natalie is extremely rude and unprofessional when calling. Overall the facility is great!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
