The Apsley. Assisted Living That Makes Life Worth Living My mother didn’t want to go into assisted living. At 95, she still resisted any help and just wanted to stay locked in her beautiful Manhattan condo. Then she saw The Apsley and everything changed. I don’t know how I convinced her to just go on a tour of the brand new modern senior living place on Broadway, a block away from her Upper West Side home. From the moment we walked in, we knew this was something completely different. Unlike any home for the elderly, The Apsley is for the young at heart. Gorgeous private apartments with huge windows and sparkling well-designed bathrooms overlook the Hudson River. The restaurant features an Executive Chef, Sommelier and white glove service. Some of the best food is Manhattan is being served in a restaurant only a lucky few can enjoy. Broadway Cares entertains frequently. An art studio, theater, beauty salon and indoor/outdoor lounges just add to the glamorous experience. The mornings begin with exercises and the evening ends with a movie. Cocktails and lectures and music and museum trips to behind the scenes places make every day an adventure. Ken Seaman, Rene Woods, Jeremy Whaley, Cynthia Mompoint, Oxdelle Joseph and the enormous well-trained staff gave my mother the loving attention she craved. They visited her during the day when she didn’t feel up to the group activities. They sat with her during meals if she came down late, after other residents had already eaten. Their constant conversation stimulated her brain and gave her a feeling of connection. If you are looking for the best place to restart your parent’s life, The Apsley is just what the doctor ordered. It makes the next stage, a fun stage. And at 95, that’s a very big promise.

The Apsley is a wonderful and luxurious living opportunity for seniors on the upper west side. The interiors, entertainment, and food help make for an exceptional experience and ambiance. Warm and friendly. Diana is a fantastic person to work and will provide service and a level of attention and support that will please everyone.
