Had a consultation and he performed my first colonoscopy! He was patient and explained the procedure in a manner I was comfortable with. His staff is very nice as well.

I went through a period of time (about a year) in which I was having extreme gastric distress which severely interrupted my life and destroyed my social life completely. This doctor declined the opportunity to help me. He told me that there was nothing wrong with me, and insinuated that my problem was psychological. He was wrong. It was a physiological problem, and the psychological distress I was in was a direct result of the gastric distress I was in. There were at least TWO medications he could have tried with me, but instead he let me suffer and he let my life disintegrate.

Professional, informative, makes decent decisions, smart, painless. He had the good sense to recommend my procedure occur at the hospital because my colon was twisted. He’s good with twisted colon’s. Tell him if you have one and you know it. He told me they have better equipment at the hospital for seeing that. It was important to tell him so you don’t have to repeat the procedure. It’s a rough one he and his staff made it easier.

Unlike many gastroenterologists I've been to in the past, Dr. Johnson is patient, giving you the time to express your current digestive concerns, and provides thoughtful answers, being familiar with up to date tests & procedures. Even with digestive concerns that have somewhat of a mysterious origin or floating pains/symptoms (ex. IBS) he takes your pain seriously, and is very thorough with testing to ensure you find the best possible treatment. As a plus, being in Chinatown, he respects a patients decision to use alternative care (ex. acupuncture) in conjunction with conventional care. Dr. Johnson & his staff are positively gems!

I wish EVERY doctor's appointment could go so well. Usually I dread even signing in for my appointment because at every other single place I have been to in NYC the staff always acted like I was bothering them. The staff in this office are more than professional, they are courteous and kind. Dr. Johnson is friendly, patient, and caring. I wish I could make this office my primary care office as I would be much happier when I had a medical problem!!!
