Dr. Tezel is wonderful. He may come across serious at first, but is actually quite funny and personable. He is incredibly knowledgeable, detailed and wants the best for not just your eyes, but the function of your whole body as it relates.

Dr. Tezel (actually also Professor) is the Director of the Retina Division at Columbia Presbyterian, one of the leading Ophthalmologist centers in the US. Based on my own experience, Dr. Tezel is the most caring, knowledgeable and talented ophthalmologist surgeon I ever went to. He fixed my macular pucker and hole to perfection as I now have 20/20 for the eye he operated on. I would recommend him to anyone having any sort of retina issue, and as a bonus, he has a fantastic sense of humor.

My husband became a patient of Dr. Tezel's in December of 2016. My husband suffered a detached retina among other complications after having emergency triple bypass surgery; he was 30 years old. My husband is also a diabetic. Dr. Tezel was and continues to be a godsend. Each and every visit we are warmly greeted. Dr. Tezel and staff take their time speaking us, educating us, and are truly empathetic towards our situation. It's an amazing experience to have such a compassionate and intelligent doctor on our team who is so down to earth. I would give him 1,000 stars if I could.

It is unfortunate but I cannot give this doctor a star. Please note that my review is not based on his professional ability but rather the services provided to me by his staff. I had an appointment for 9:15 am. I was coming from downtown Brooklyn. There were delays on the trains as well as the buses. I called his office twice to inform him of the situation and that I was running late. I was told not to worry but to get there as soon as I could. I got there at 9:45 to my surprise I was questioned and literally scorned. They asked me to wait and see if the Doctor could make time for me, after waiting an extra 10 minutes I was told the Doctor could not see me because if he did he will leave his office late. I wished they had said that when I called twice but to make me come that far and to dismiss me in such manner, I find is unprofessional and disrectful. I do not believe that this doctor understand the problems we New Yorker face with public transportation and I do not think that he cares for his patients. He did not even see me for a second to assess the urgency of my situation. I am glad that providence did not trust my eyes to this doctor.

Doctor Tezel is very arrogant but that didn't matter to me because he tells it like it is and he saved my life! He's the best doctor I have ever dealt with because he will tell you the root of the problem and spent a lot of time addressing all my concerns.

Dr. Tezel really cares about his patients; brilliant retina specialist. Personally called to immediately see me after a scheduling issue. If you have an ocular retinal problem, he comes highly recommended. Wish more physicians were like Dr. Tezel. Five stars.
