List of Weill Cornell Medicine Ophthalmology's Reviews
When they see you, they're great. If you have an emergency the following day, no one gets back to you.
They made my appointment, I took a day off from work and showed up only for them to tell me that they don't accept my insurance then gave me a $2,300 out of pocket estimate. Utter mess and possibly a scam as well.
The doctors were very understanding and they explained everything thoroughly.
Remember Where Andy Warhol DIED!!! TAKE HEED! Become a Patient at this RAMSHACKLE Clinic AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!! It's GUILTY OF BREACHING MEDICAL ETHICS AND GETTING AWAY WITH IT!!! ABANDON ALL HOPE ALL YE WHO ENTER HERE! Was There MALPRACTICE In My Case? YOU BET YOUR EYES! Read On And You Decide. This so-called healthcare eye clinic justifiably receives 2.8 out of 5 stars, a grade of 56% or "F"! Read The Reviews. This clinic is uncaring. My opthalmologist, Dr. Paul Petrakos, broke medical ethics by cancelling my cataract surgery and severing my relationship with this clinic even though I was an existing patient! Doing such a thing, again, is a Breach of Medical Ethics according to the American Medical Association. Why did he cancel my surgery? Because I politely let him know, in writing, of the multiple errors that his scheduling department made concerning me. I even wrote that I knew he wasn't responsible for scheduling. I am 78 years old and disabled and this experience has caused me such emotional trauma that I no longer wish to have cataract surgery Anywhere, and my vision is not good. The Hippocratic Oath that doctors recite to become physicians includes: "DO NO HARM". I have been done great harm. (When a physician causes harm he/she is guilty of Malpractice.). Don't let this happen to you. Just read a review that was posted 2 weeks before this. That reviewer says the same thing about the scheduling department. I wonder if they cancelled her also? This is NYC so you don't have to look far to find excellent opthalmologists NOT associated with Weill Cornell. Do Yourself a Favor and DON't Come HERE! You won't regret it!
Dr. Jordana Smith and resident, Dr. Michael, were amazing. They spent hours with my son, who has myopia, and took their time testing him, ruling out any issues, and then laying out various options. There was no wait time, and both doctors took their time answering all questions and explained everything in great detail. The wonderful patient care coordinator, Shanice Christian, was spectacular and professional. She printed out all necessary prescriptions and called me three times the following day to ensure my son had a followup appointment in three months!
The reviews say it all… unfortunately this place has great technology if you have eye issues and severe ones but my goodness it is beyond poorly managed. They also have the audacity to try and charge 75 dollars for a no show when in reality who ever doesn’t show up is doing THEM a favor. They need to change whoever is responsible for their scheduling strategy. This place is an embarrassment for WCM
Went with my wife to have an eye checkup for some problems she is having. Very crowded today with people waiting to be seen. My wife was not called in until 30 minutes after her appt time. Looks like they are overbooking as other people were asking about delays to see the same doctors. Also it is very hard to get an appt with this dept as they seem to be fully booked all the time.
My mom always receives exceptional ophthalmology care here. She has excellent doctors: Dr Richard Levy and Dr. Christian Olivera. My mom needs extraordinary care due to an aneurysm and she is in great hands here. Top notch service from scheduling department from check in to medical services. Can't say enough great things about the ophthalmology doctors here.
Extraordinary LONG waits. We drive 1.5 hours each way plus parking and then sit in the waiting room for at least 1-2 hours. Our doctor seems very rushed and doesn't look at us when he is talking to us. Feel very dismissed. Would love to see more respect and care and understand the doctor's rush but maybe this can be worked out with scheduling?
This place is a total scam. I explicitly said I wouldn’t order contact lenses here because it’s too expensive. However they still shipped to me. Now I need to bring it back myself otherwise I need to pay shipping fee for the return. Do not go.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
