Had a terrible experience to the point of being shocked by how little he listened to what I was asking about. I have never been subjected to such patronizing, dismissive behavior. Maybe he's better with children. I had seen Dr Patrick Choong several times for a related issue a few years before, and he had scoped my throat. Since Dr Choong was no longer available and I'd heard good things about Schaefer, I went to see him. He not only ignored my request, he then pricededpoked around my CHIN and then said oh you've got a scar there and I said yes I tripped and fell on my chin once on the sidewalk and then he told me that my only problem was talking with my mouth open. Give me a break. He didn't even look down my throat. He said he'd had the same problem. Well, don't assume a brand new patient is just like YOU. Unbelievable. I have a severe chronic sinus infection now, aggravated by the use of a biologic med for RA (which I am stopping) and you can bet I will NOT go to Dr. Schaefer.

Dr Schaffer is the Best! His staff is excellent too! A few weeks ago, Dr Schaffer removed my Son’s tonsils and repaired his deviated septum. The hospital staff was great and so very friendly!! Their treatment given to my son was perfect!! I highly recommend Dr Schaffer and Claxton Hospital for any ENT procedure. Thank You, Trish LaPierre

I highly recommend Dr. Schaefer. He took his time with me. He explained everything in detail to me, and was very thorough. Great listener. Smart man.

My husband had to go to the Canton Potsdam ER for a horrible nose bleed. Was told to call the local ENT on Friday to remove the packing. Well the two kENTs in this area both are off on Fridays. (Don’t get it). Primary wouldn’t see him, Urgent Care said they wouldn’t see him keep packing for 72 hrs. ER said bring him back for blood work and called in antibiotics (didn’t go back) Thank God my daughter recommend Dr Schaefer. Even though it was Dr Schaefer day to perform operations he got to see my husband. Packing was removed which elevated his pain and his nose was cauterized. Worth the hour drive each way to get the world class service this Doctor gives. Caring and understanding a much needed asset in health care which he gives. Also many thanks to Jenna , Dr Schaefer assistant who was pleasant and understanding with my panic calls to get my husband seen.
