Dr. Hou allocated a very brief amount of time to discussing her recommendation for surgery with me. Asking her to get specific on my condition and possible surgical complications was very much like pulling teeth. I felt a resistance from her to both provide more detailed information and to spend more time on answering questions. Dissatisfied with my appointment with her I sought out a second opinion. The second doctor recommended a more precise diagnostic test. This test contradicted the findings of the test Dr. Hou had me do. The second doctor felt that the results of neither test called for surgery. While Dr. Hou did not conduct the first test—it was done by a radiologist—I do not understand why she did not recommend that I undergo a more accurate diagnostic test prior to any consideration of surgery. Instead she advised that I undergo surgery and that it be done relatively soon. Unacceptable.

Dr Hou is extremely knowledgeable, professional and very empathetic. She takes time to talk to you and explain in detail your condition and outcome. I had ovarian cancer and Dr Hou performed the surgery and walked me through every step of the way And continues to be so caring and supportive. She is wonderful and I was so fortunate to have her as my doctor.

I have found Dr. Hou caring and compassionate, knowledgeable and informative. She carefully answered my questions, helping me understand what we might be talking about while considering my ability psychologically to absorb the enormity of her questions and comments. The staff did an excellent job of interviewing me, correctly matching me with this doctor, and getting me on her appointment schedule.
