List of Dr. Silvy Mathew's Reviews
When I left Medcan private health insurance I could not find a doctor acceptable to me. I am 65 so my healthcare needs have become more demanding. I am totally confident in Dr. Mathew's wonderfully thorough and constant attention to my healthcare needs. If you want a great doctor I highly recommend Dr. Mathew.
A good doctor who is kind and competent. I really appreciated her care after the birth of my son - I felt she really cared about me and my wellbeing. I would recommend her as a family physician. Asking questions / booking appointments via the practice's portal is sometimes frustrating.
Dr Mathew is caring and attentive and super smart. The communications approach at her clinic myfamilymd.ca is bit frustrating that you have to use their portal and they don't answer the phone. Her staff has not always been responsive on the portal.
Dr. Mathew is the best family doctor you can find. She is kind, through and attentive. She really has the best interest of her patients always at the top of her mind. I messaged her with a problem and within seconds she got back to me with advice. Thank you Dr. Mathew!
In my opinion Dr. Silvy Mathew was mostly responsible for my mother's death at the nursing home with her negligent "no" care treatment.
My sister is a resident in Belmont House and I have found this doctor to be rude, dismissive and generally very unhelpful. This doctor is the one assigned to her care and I an very disappointed in her medical care.
Myself and my husband have been patients of Dr Mathew since moving to Toronto 7 years ago. We both developed complicated medical issues not long after our move and Dr. Mathew has been absolutely terrific. Apart from being straightforward about what she thinks is going on and what she proposes, and when necessary making referrals to extremely good people, she goes the extra mile in so many ways. She helped me through a tough diagnosis of 4th stage cancer (later reversed, I am happy to say) and showed such care and helpful advice...to both of us. When i visited an orthopaedic surgeon with an ankle issue, he read her careful notes and said, "I hope you know you have a really great family doctor..."...i assured him i did. I am writing this review now as I came across these reviews and was astonished by the negative reviews. From our perspective, we couldn't ask for a smarter and more caring professional!
She is rude and doesn’t give the patient the time of day. As soon as she has done the minimum required of her, she is out the door with no regard for further questions or concerns from the patient. She and the office staff did not get back to me about important results (I had waited for months) but then chastised me for going to another clinic. Very rude and unfriendly personality with a superiority complex. I am currently trying to find a new doctor.
Condescending, close minded, does not listen and no understanding of queer men’s health issues. Refers for almost everything, even things a GP should be perfectly capable of doing. In 5 years with her I never had anything resembling a physical exam. She even had the temerity to chastise me for going to a walk-in clinic! My most recent referral had incorrect contact information. After 3 weeks of gaslighting from the staff, I finally got the correct information, but no apology or acknowledgement of their mistake. Then they have the nerve to charge you to transfer records! As a healthcare provider myself I’m shocked at the service from this clinic. It’s simply subpar.
I have been seeing Dr. Mathew for about 8 years and I am now leaving the practice for another GP. She is routinely condescending, impatient and actively refuses to advocate for her patients within the healthcare system. She misdiagnosed and minimized an injury I have and then blamed me for her lack of attention to detail. She didn’t take me seriously and then got irritated when I had to go to a walk in clinic for an X-ray. She and the mismanaged office in general have added to the stress of the chronic pain I am in. A little compassion would go a long way. I would not recommend her or the MyFamily MD Clinic.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
