List of North Shore Hematology & Oncology's Reviews
Every time I go, I pay in person. Yet repeatedly, every time a few days later I am billed for what I just paid. Poor billing department. Also, every time I go, the secretaries tell me that my appointment is a different day/time. EVERY TIME I GO! So then I am left with waiting 1.5 hours for a bus ride home, for I cannot drive. They are unorganized, so I stopped going there and switched to Stony Brook Hospital Hematologists. I first tried seeing Dr. Yelda Nouri. She quickly stated something briefly. Then she rushed me out the door. I tried to ask some questions. She replied in about five words. Then she left the room to make more money by seeing more patients. She does not care about patient's health; works only for money. Dr. Nawaz is brilliant and kind, yet runs 45-60 minutes late. The Patchogue location has poor quality sensors for the water to turn on in the restrooms. The water turned on for only one second, off four seconds; on again for one second; then no more water at all from the faucet. I have never experienced such poor water sensors before. I almost began to bleed caused by so-called blood specialists. They seem to have no idea what causes eczema. My fingers within two minutes became cracked, peeling and almost bleeding from this location. Patients with eczema, beware. In general, NY Cancer and Blood Specialists has some good doctors, some not so good, and the quality of everything else is poor.
Front desk staff are not that friendly and do not seem pleased to be working there but everyone else is pleasant and helpful. Even those just taking blood/administering infusions and injections. The doctors are extremely thorough and will run every test they can think of to help diagnose the issue. I do believe the quality of care is high but there are definitely areas to be improved on starting with reception.
This healthcare provider treats cancer and blood disorders. I am adding to my original review. This is for Dr. Torres' team. N.P. Steven Pentheros also treats patients. He is spectacular. He is friendly and listens to every question. Matthew is a nurse that also will go the extra mile. I could not function without any of them. The team is so great that I recommended my daughter. She goes to Dr. Torres also.
Very kind and helpful
I don't have the words to express how grateful I am for Doctor Noshir Dacosta. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 31 and with Doctor Dacosta's medical care, kindness and understanding, I am now 48 and completely cancer free. The office staff is also wonderful. I would recommend anyone to Doctor Dacosta with complete confidence.
I have been so happy with Dr. C Kim. She is very thorough, professional and shows compassion. I wish more Doctors were like her! I also find the staff to be professional and gracious. At times the office is very busy and you may have to wait at the infusion center. I believe the reason for that is they are tending to the really sick patients and will get to you as soon as they can.
Have been going to the East Patchogue location for three months and each time the Dr has no answers for me but has me continue to make appts. For what???? When I bring up tests that he told me he would send me for he looks at me like he's never heard of such a thing. Staff stands around at desks and infusion center like they're at happy hour, talking loud and everyone has their phone out. Will never step foot in this office again!!!!
I am so grateful I was referred to NSHOA last year. Dr. Rocco Caruso is the most professional and caring doctor I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He takes his time getting to know his patients and he actually cares about them. I'll never forget a few weeks ago somebody from his office called and asked if I would be willing to see another doctor, I was so upset and disturbed. The only reason I go to NSHOA is because of him. I never want to switch doctors unless he retires! Dr. Caruso makes me feel at ease and well taken care of. I've recommended him to anyone I know who needs hematologist or oncologist. I am so lucky to have met him and as long as he is here, so am I!
Never able to get anyone on the phone. I've been transferred from here to Mars and back, put on eternal hold. I've spent unless time on hold listening to horrible music. With the stress of cancer, do I need this additional stress. Right now I'm on hold over 10mins. Talk to a doctor?? It took 3 days to get a call back
Very unpleasant experience. I tried to make a new patient appointment today, August 22 and the female receptionist was so unpleasant and not very helpful. I'm a college student and couldn't make any morning appointments. I ended up calling another doctor and she couldn't have cared less. The receptionist couldnt be bothered to help me much and was not nice about it. Very unfortunate and disappointing.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
