Andrew Maran's Online Review Report Card

I brought my mother to see Dr. Andrew Maran after researching and reviewing his credentials on Castle Connolly. Castle Connolly usually gives me very good advice on doctors to see. Unfortunately, that was not the case with this doctor. On the first visit with the doctor: The doctor interrupted my mother as she was trying to explain her symptoms in broken English. The doctor ignored me when I tried to explain my mother’s symptoms. His response was that the blood test would tell him her symptoms. On the first visit with the nurse: My mother tried to explain that she has complicated veins and where the nurse should place the needle. The nurse deliberately ignored my mother’s request and decided to pinch her in several places. My mother got a vein blowout because of all the pinches she was receiving. In the end, my mother had to go to a diagnostic center because the nurse was unable to finish. On the second visit with the doctor: The doctor took my mother and closed the door on my face. I still went in. After mentioning three options for hyperthyroid, he tried to push the option of radiology. Due to the first visit, I was already very distrusting of this doctor and wanted my mother to get a second option. As I was telling my mother my opinion, the doctor holds up his hand in an effort to shut me up. My mother told the doctor she will try the medications first as he reluctantly prescribed her the medications. I went with my mother to get her medical records for a second opinion. When I read the records, all the symptoms that my mother had tried to explain to the doctor came out as denied. On the second visit with the staff: The following day my mother went to get her medications just to find out that her pharmacy did not have her medications. When I called, I had to call twice because the first time they ignored me so the second time I had to act like their best friend in order to get my mother’s medication. I came to find out that they wrote a different pharmacy. Thankfully, that same day they changed the pharmacy, and my mother was able to get her medications. I am giving this doctor and staff one star for getting my mother’s blood test referral and medication prescription.

While the staff at the Williamsburg office were super friendly, Dr. Maran came across like a lion tamer~ all that was missing was his whip!
