Dr. Gu is the best doctor I ever have before. She takes time to listens, exams, and carefully reviews all your medical history. She explains to me the treatments, medication to take and what to do in future when every time I see her. The most important she correctly diagnosed my health issues. When I had questions, I could easily sent messages thru the patient portal. She and her team always responded within 2 days. It is very nice to have her in ACPNY Flushing location. I have recommended Dr. Gu to my friends and family.

This review is long overdue and I'm writing on behalf of my husband. I'm surprised Dr. Gu has only one review to date and that is also a negative one. She doesn't deserve a negative review. Because of my background in medicine and public health, I check every doctor's profile carefully before scheduling any medical appointment. During my initial visit with Dr. Gu, I was a bit skeptical because of the attitude of the front desk staff. However, after speaking with Dr. Gu for the first time, I chose her as my PCP right away. Her management is quite different from other health care providers. First, she takes time to explain the situation in layman's terms so that both patient and family can understand. Second, she reviews patient's health records carefully and informs the patient right away about the missing preventive measure. This is very important because it's better to let the patient know about the age related screenings and required vaccinations before one gets diagnosed with a health condition that could have been prevented. Third, she gives high priority to medical emergency and takes the initiative to reach out to the patient and family members before it's too late. My husband could have lost his one kidney if she had not informed us on time. It was a Saturday in the month of June, we were getting ready to drive to NH, and suddenly we received a phone call from Dr. Gu. She spoke with me and was asked to take my husband to the emergency room immediately. His abdominal CT scan showed an obstructive renal calculi with hydronephrosis meaning there was a big stone obstructing his left ureter and his left kidney was swollen with fluid. We followed her instructions, took him to the ER, and a laser surgical procedure was performed in the following week to remove the obstructing stone. If she had not alerted us on this medical emergency, he could have lost one kidney function. So, she is a life saver! We need more PCPs like Dr. Gu in NYC. Since then I've recommended her to my family and friends.
