It's been a year and a half since I had my herniated disc surgery done by Dr. DiPaola. I wanted to give it plenty of time to heal and for my full strength to get back to 100%. Dr. DiPaola took such amazing care of me from the minute he saw my MRI results and called me first thing in the morning before he started his shift to schedule emergency surgery. He took the time to kind of vibe with me on our phone call and we chatted and he got to know more about me and allowed me to get confident and comfortable that I was going to be in good hands. The whole surgery took about 4 and a half hours because when he got to where the herniation was, it was way worse than what the MRI showed. It pushed my L5 nerve so far over it was where muscle ligaments were supposed to be and it had compressed my spine almost completely to the back of my spine. Before surgery, I could not walk, stand, or do anything to care for myself and had very little quality of life. After surgery all the sciatic nerve pain was almost completely gone, the nerves were all still irritated from months and months of disruption from the herniation. He took out about 6 cm's worth of herniated disc. (I asked him to take a pic of it so I could see it) I couldn't believe it! He told me that in his 19 years of doing these surgeries, he's never seen a herniation that large and knew I had to have been in excruciating pain. Which I was. The only nerve issues I have to this day are in my big toe and it comes and goes. The turn around time for nerve damage can take up to 2 years, which he was very transparent about and walked me through the surgery and recovery. I was able to walk and use the bathroom on my own after surgery for the first time in 2 months. I also recommend completing all the physical therapy and continuing it after the sessions stop. I can never thank him and his staff enough for the care they gave me. I highly recommend him, he's one in a million!!! Thank you so much!!! It not only saved my life, it lite changed my life for the better!!!

Dr. Dipaola was fairly arrogant and gave us a feeling that we were wasting his time. He criticized how another provider did a test he ordered, going on and on. Left with vague information. Definitely time for a second opinion, will not go back to him.

Had surgery in Aug. 2018 and have never been ok. Went to neurosurgeon in Boston for second opinion and having surgery abdominally to fix the mess I am in since seeing Dr. Dipaolo!

Performed spine surgery on me Aug. 2018. I have never been the same! I am worse after surgery!!!!! I would ask as many questions as possible before allowing him to touch me. Do not allow anyone to touch you without a promise!!!!!

Worst experience ever. My 12 yr old was left so upset after spending 4 hours waiting to be seen. We finally had to walk out. He was very rude to his nurse and my daughter heard it. She was scared to even see him at that point . This guy shouldn’t be working with the public. Terrible person

I dislike Dr. Dipaola because he dismisses the fact that he did not explain how severe my recovery would be. I never would have had the surgery if I knew how much I would suffer postoperatively. He pushes you of to the nurse practitioner because he does not want to deal with you personally or face you as a patient and human being. He does not want to listen to you as a person. He thinks he is better than you!

I've been a patient of Dr. Dipaola for several years. He's always super nice, takes the time to listen and always gives me the impression that he really wants to help. Never pushed surgery on me and always helped me decide what the best treatment plan is. He's funny and keeps it real.

Dr. Dipaula did surgery on my lower back and I feel like I never had surgery done. Pain is gone,2 ??????????
