Ian Bourhill's Online Review Report Card

I was a pt of Dr Bourhill in 2018 and had abdominalplasty, once i had procedure done, one side of my tummy had a bulge. During Follow up i mentioned this to Dr Bourhill and his response was 'well no one is perfectly symmetrical' years later (2023)and i still have that same unpleasant bulge on the right side of my abdomen. Kind of just hangs over excision line which makes me very insecure. nice man but did not take my complaint seriously.

Dr. Bourhll is a compassionate and talented plastic surgeon. He closed two of my Mohs wounds over the years, almost scar-free. He is attentive to my questions, and very down-to-earth. I am a registered nurse, and very picky about my health care providers. I am amazed by how complete his post-procedure instructions are. They are detailed and include step by step information that anyone can follow.

Dr Bourhill is extremely rude and his bedside manner is nonexistent. He recently closed an incision on my face after Mohs surgery. He walked into the room without introducing himself and only said "I'm here just sew you up". He never said another word to me, and his assistant had to tell me his name. When he was done he took his gloves off threw them in the trash and walked out of the procedure room, and did not even wash his hands before he left. I was ready to leave him one star, zero if I could have but my incision healed so well that you can barely see it just one month later. I still believe he needs to learn some bedside manner and treat people with dignity and respect. If he had only introduced himself to me I would have given him the highest number of stars that I could! But not introducing yourself to a patient is inexcusable. I don't think I'd ever go back to him despite the fact that he does beautiful plastic surgery.

He didn’t introduce himself, just walked in and said” I’m here just sew you up”. I asked his name and he still didn’t speak to me and his medical assistant had to tell me his name. I don’t care how the incision heals it wasn’t worth it. I am more than an open wound laying on a table that needs to be closed. Every patient deserves to be treated with dignity and respect and be spoken to by their doctor. I wasn’t asking for tea and biscuits when he walked in, I was only asking for an introduction to a plastic surgeon who is going to sew up my face. As a healthcare provider myself I am shocked by his behavior and will not recommend him to anyone , regardless of how my incision heals. I would like to add that my suture line looks like it could have been sewn up better by a first year resident.

Dr. Bourhill is professional, pleasant, knowledgeable and a good listener. He is patient, answered all questions and discussed a plan that I was comfortable with. I look forward to my follow up visit to discuss next steps and diagnostic studies are completed.

Absolutely hands down the best. Dr. Bourhill really understands the needs of his patients. Very very honest That's very important and very hard to find. Especially with plastic surgeons.

DO NOT LET THIS GUY CUT YOU AND STITCH IT I had a "scar revision" that was totally botched really sloppy work

If you need a plastic surgeon on Long Island, Dr. Bourhill is the only one that you should be considering.

Dr. Bourhill, has a wonderful calm manner. He's highly skilled, listens, provides straight forward answers and he's sensitive to the detail. He's up-to-date about new products and treatments and never uses persuasion. Definitely a dr. I trust and highly recommend! GM
