Beware of the emergency room (ER) billing practices at this hospital. Even if you go to this hospital *in-network* with your insurance, there is an exceptionally high risk that the ER clinician that sees you intentionally is *out-of-network.* On three separate occasions, our family has received surprise medical bills from the ER doctor groups within the walls of Southampton hospital, including, but not limited, to "24/7 Emergency Care," that the hospital is sub-contracted with and partners with a collection agency called C Tech to do their dirty work for them. These billing practices are not legal and have drawn significant scrutiny in countless ERs across the country from the federal government and create significant reputation risk for Stony Brook Southampton Hospital to continue to work with groups like 24/7 Emergency Care that are gaming the healthcare system and taking advantage of people in our community.

They let me in from the e.r to visit then the next day I had to use the other entrance and they wouldn’t let me in turns out all of a sudden I needed to be vaccinated or take a Covid test at a clinic that takes two days . Very disappointing

We were visiting from Florida and needed medical attention. I looked up Southampton Hospital and read reviews which were not very good. I was actually a bit scared but had no choice because any other facility was too far away. We were pleasantly surprised. Very friendly and caring staff. I never do reviews but thought this might relieve anxiety for others after reading some of the negative comments. Thank you Cindy and Liz … sorry can’t remember everyone’s name. R&J Sarasota Florida

Nurse couldn’t find a vein on my cousin for over 15 minutes. Was asking me to press buttons on the machines for her. Asked for another nurse and was ridiculed by staff. Place is unprofessional.

Great hospital..ER dept moved fast and efficiently…within 1hr they ran ct and blood work and got the results. Very impressive!

How do you tell someone who is there……” get a local doctor this is t the place for your issue” who are you to determine why I’m there? If I’m in the ER I feel I am in need…….. I have insurance …..your not paying my bills….. awful j take nurse . Worst I have ever met.

My daughter had some issues and needed to visit an ER on Eastern LI. The doctor was incredibly rude and incompetent. A much longer story but thought it was important to get a quick “stay away” review out there. After reading many of these reviews I see we are not alone! Really shocked Hospital executives are allowing this and not taking some sort of action.

I would leave 0 stars if I could. Went into the ER with bleeding at 15 weeks pregnant. Dr. Stowell was the absolute worst doctor I have ever seen in my life. Arrogant, argumentative, disrespectful and inconsiderate to my feelings and body. Laughed in my face and rolled his eyes several times as I was answering his medical questions (as I’m in tears) spoke down to me the entire visit. I was there for 4 hours which I understand it’s an ER and it takes time but after meeting him, I did not trust him or his opinion. My husband and I left after waiting 4 hours and drove straight to St. Charles Hospital instead where I was treated like a human being. If you see Dr. Stowell run in the other direction. He will misdiagnose you (told me I was miscarrying when I in fact was not), force treatment you don’t feel comfortable with (pelvic exam when my doctor put me on pelvic rest) and mock you for the entirety of your visit. I will be in touch with the board about this visit with Dr. Stowell. I’m sorry for anyone who experienced the same with him. I do highly recommend the ER in St Charles Hospital. Do not go to Southampton ER or see Dr. Stowell.

The staff and facility are great, but the doctors here are absolutely inept. I came in for COVID and they then ended up treating me for heart issues, which wasn’t an issue. They then proceeded to give me ZERO treatments for covid (no medications, no monoclonal antibodies, nothing other then monitoring…despite me asking multiple times). And instead wanted to put me through every heart test under the sun. Seriously do NOT go here if you need actual help.

I went for a routine medical check up. They charged me $2,591 for routine bloodwork! The billing department didn't send the bill to the correct place, despite my calling multiple times to try to clarify, then they sent me to collections! Unbelieveable, they overcharge outrageously, bill incorrectly, make it impossible to speak to people in the billing office, and then they send you to collections! Avoid this place at all cost if you don't want to spend hours fighting with them! I would give them negative stars if I could.
