David Henry Hiltzik's Online Review Report Card

My 17yo son has suffered from mouth breathing, nasal stuffiness, snoring causing sleep interruptions and fatigue during the day. He was diagnosed with nasal turbinate hypertrophy. We went to several ENT physicians and treatments varied. We were referred to Dr Hiltzik who offered my son treatment. We decided to proceed with him due to his experience and expertise. Today my son is a new person, he no longer has the difficulties during sleep and the nasal stuffiness is gone. On his post operative visit with Dr Hiltzik my son rejoiced that he can now breath through his nose better than ever before. I highly recommend Dr Hiltzik, he is a wonderful surgeon with a true desire to help his patients.

After 9 months of surgery getting rescheduled ..I had surgery with doctor hiltzik today for polyp removal, septum surgery and tissue removal. He brings me into the operating room.. 2 hours later I wake up in recovery with surgery not being done Bc THEY DIDNT CHECK MY THROAT BEFORE TRYING TO PUT TUBES IN SO I CAN BREATHE. They found that the tissue inside my neck is swollen.Blood pressure dropped. I came out of the operating room with spots all over the outside of my neck. I have a health care proxy on file and they called NO ONE! not even my emergency contact. I came out of anesthesia obviously not able to fully comprehend much . And still really have no idea what happened to me.

Dr Hiltzik thrives on ignorant fools. He doesn’t properly examine his patients. He doesn’t scope his patients properly and thrives on unknowing laypersons thinking he actually checked them. He will do surgery on you or your child based on symptoms. Don’t believe this review? I strongly encourage going to another ENT for a second opinion and you will see how horrible Hiltzik is. This doctor has done surgery on children possibly for no reason because of unknowning parents thinking this guy knows what he’s doing. If he scopes your child in under 30 seconds he’s not seeing anything trust me go to another doctor.

Beware of unscrupulous billing practices! I had a 7-minute visit with Dr. Heltzig. He looked at the problem with my nose with a scope for 20 seconds, said I had an infection that prevents him from seeing anything, prescribed antibiotics and a CT scan, and run out in the middle of my question. I had not been told anything about what these 7 minutes might cost me. Later I received a bill from my insurance for $2,090.83. He used up almost all of my yearly health reimbursement account for this visit. It turns out he billed my insurance $2,800 for the 7-minute visit and they "negotiated" it to $2,090.83. In my view, this 7-minute visit cold not possibly be fairly valued at $2,090.83. For this reason I feel I was taken advantage of. Obviously, I will not be back. Sharing this with everybody in the hopes it would cause you to not repeat my mistake, and ask for prices ahead of time. Caveat emptor!

Dr. Hiltzik performed a complete thyroidectomy on me, non cancerous issue, and damaged ALL of my parathyroids, which worked perfectly before surgery. Life has been hell since.

Dr. David is a great doctor. He is kind, informative and straightforward. He is working with me on a rare cancer and my feeling is that he really, really cares. 5-stars.

Have been there 2x. Always taken on time. Everyone is great. The Dr listens to you and you never feel rushed.I highly recommend Dr Hiltzik.

Dr. Hiltzik was highly recommended from a co-worker of mine. My daughter was in the process of being diagnosed with a certain lymphoma when he saw her CT scan. He came in and said that he did not want to go near that . He stated it was wrapped around her heart and that it was a matter of life or death and yelled at my daughter that she was in denial. Well did I mention I am an employee at Northwell too and had him scare the crap out of my daughter like that. He was so unprofessional and I will not ever recommend him to anyone because of his terrifying statements to my daughter. Because of how he approached this matter I went directly to NYC hospital where I would never get a reaction like that.

I underwent a total thyroidectomy (which was quite complex) and subsequent vocal cord surgery, both within the last 6 months. In my opinion, Dr. Hiltzik is a true miracle worker! I have not felt this healthy in years. He is not only a phenomenal surgeon but is compassionate and extremely patient. I never felt rushed or unheard at any of my many appointments. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Hiltzik and I am forever greateful to him.

After waiting 3 months to get an appointment they called to reschedule for another 2 weeks. Got to office at our scheduled time and there was standing room only with patients visibly upset ad agitated. There was even a man cursing using 4 letter words because he was waiting so long. Ended up leaving after hearing it was an hour and a half wait. Staff was not friendly and looked miserable. Think I’ll find another doctor.
