John F. Carew's Online Review Report Card

I've been a patient of Dr. Carew for over 10 years and can confidently say that he's the best ENT I've had. He has wonderful bedside manners, is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, and truly cares about his patients. Recently, I had an urgent issue after hours and left a message with his exchange. To my surprise, he called me back in less than an hour, which never happens with other doctors. I highly recommend Dr. Carew if you're looking for a Otolaryngologist or an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor.

Dr. Carew is a fantastic doctor and person.  He does a great job of diagnosing, discussing, listening and caring.  He found a life threatening cancer after other doctors missed this cancer and this truly saved my life.  I so highly recommend him.

Dr. Carew doesn't take insurance. Took my elderly father for ear wax removal. Spent minimal time with him and didn't finish the job - said to buy an over the counter ear wax removal kit. This after spending several hundred dollars on the visit. Waste of time & money.

Had my first appointment with Dr. Carew and I can tell he's a winner. He listens! Actually cares! Wants to really help solve your problem. And to boot explains all he does and what his diagnosis is. He's what you expect from a Dr. and I am so glad to have found him. Best of all, he didn't mention "could you leave a good review online for me" because he doesn't have to. That is always a bit of a red flag for me and there was no red flag because he's likely secure in knowing he's an excellent medical professional.

My visit with Dr. Carew today was, simply put, perfect. I did not have to wait to be seen. He remembered me from having done my thyroid surgery years ago. He listened as I explained my current symptoms, then told me what he suspected and did a simple test which required looking through a tube down my throat. He did this gently and quickly, then explained I have "Silent Reflux". He told me in detail and by drawing a picture, exactly what was causing my symptoms, the medications that could help, and his recommendations regarding my diet. You will not find a kinder, more thorough, skilled, knowledgeable, caring and personable doctor anywhere. I trust him explicitly and feel so fortunate he was available to perform my surgery in the past and still care for me today. He said I will likely not have to return for a visit- if I follow his instructions I will get well... but I am so grateful he is here, practicing in NYC, if I need him.

I have seen Dr. Carew twice in the last two months. August was for a sinus related issue and this time for allergies. Dr. Carew prescribed the right treatments both times, very gentle in examining the sinuses. He is a fabulous doctor, and found him on NextDoor. I recommend him very highly and he is a 10!!

Dr. Carew was recommended very highly on the NextDoor app.  that was good enough for me. Hands down, best ENT I have ever been to. I have seen him twice in two months for different issues.  He diagnosed, prescribed treatment and was in and out. Love that he is in my neighborhood as I work from home. I give him a 10!!!

Dr Carew is a gem - he goes out of his way to help his patients. I have been experiencing hearing loss and he recommended an MRI,since he's so smart, reassuring and positive I agreed to do it but right afterwards I ran to his office so scared of the results. He obviously didn't have the results right away and in a comforting way I left the office.As i headed to work almost an hour later, with my 23 year old son in tow and dog, i get a call from his cell telling me the test was normal! I was crying from happiness for almost 20 minutes, and my son hugged me and cried as well. All of a sudden my son didn't mind losing in fantasy football and learned a very big life lesson - which is your health! Dr Carew is magnificent that's all I can say - so is his staff for letting me barge in wanting to see the dr. Whoever has him as a doctor is a very lucky patient!

excellent Dr, who came highly recommended and for good reason. Besides being very knowledgeable in his field, he is patient, calm and explains in a way that doesn't worry you. I went to him for hearing loss (assymmetric sensoneural) and he treated me well with medication and few tests, wasn't over jealous with the testing. He has a helpful staff as well. Wish there were more doctors like him, I came to him after a terrible experience with another ENT doctor.
