After my second colon cancer diagnosis within 1 yr from the 1st operation. I was referred to this miracle of a doctor by my 1st surgeon in 2011. Dr. Joseph Martz is a gift from God. His kind and gentle manner. His genuine concern...I can go on forever. He had been in my life for 8 yrs. 2019 I was officially declared cancer free. Dr. Joseph Martz was my colorectal surgeon at Lennox Hill Hospital in NYC that did the MOST AMAZING job with my surgery. He is so incredibly intelligent, and an artist with how he creates the most beautiful stomas when making an ileostomy. Every nurse that has seen mine always says how beautiful it is and it’s all thanks to this man right here. But more importantly, the aspect of a doctor that means the most to me is their bedside manner. He has THE BEST bed side manner out of all the surgeons I’ve consulted with before I chose him to do my surgery. I saw surgeons at many top hospitals including C.H.O.P., Cornell, Columbia, NYU, SI North University, Lennox Hill, Mt. Sinai, etc..Turns out Dr. Martz just transferred to Lennox Hill Hospital after being at Mt. Sinai, 3 months before I had no other options but surgery. It was PERFECT timing, and I’d like to thank Dr. Swammanoth and God for that. Dr. Martz is one of the top 3 surgeons that could handle such a complicated case like mine and do it laparoscopically and with the latest technology using robotics! Such a blessing because I don’t have to deal with a giant scar down my stomach, and I recover faster and easier!.I also have to note how much Dr. Martz really cares about his patients. He wouldn’t start the surgery without me getting to see my dad before I went under. So we waited a little bit so my dad could make it to the hospital in time. That meant soooo much to me. This man is truly incredible, AND he literally saved my life just in time. Apparently when they opened me up, my colon was in worse condition than scans previously shown..If anyone is considering getting an ileostomy I have nothing but amazing things to say about Dr. Martz. Dr. Martz saved my son's life. Plain and simple. We were in NYC on vacation September 2001, when my 17-year-old son became ill. I took him to Lennox Hill Hospital, and after tests they said my son needed surgery; his small intestine had perforated his larger intestine. In short, he was in need of a miracle. That miracle came in the form of Dr Martz. He performed surgery on 9/10/01, and my son made it. Little did we know that the very next day, the terrorists would drive planes into the WTC, and all surgeries would be suspended at every hospital due to the expected onslaught of victims....victims who never came. I am forever grateful to this man. My son is now 37, married with 2 wonderful children, and happily employed in the financial field in NYC; none of which would have been possible without Dr Martz.
