If Dr. Harrington's SPECIALTY is neurosurgery. So why is he making so many ERRORS in his profession? Back with the 2007 case with the 86 year old man. He operated on the wrong side of the mans brain and he died. Because if Dr. Harrington's negligence this man lost his life. Dr. Harrington should not be a should have gotten his licence revoked. Also some further investigation came to my acknowledgement that he had a drinking problem in 2005 and struggled for years with it. Surgeons with a drinking problem SHOULD NOT be able to keep performing surgery if they are drinking the night before and go to work the next day. I don´t have a personal experience with him because of what I found out about this man.
Dr Harrington,is the best i never will fine another dr like DR James Harrington,I moved to be close to my son,but i now I will not finé another dr ,as good like dr Harrington, thanks, doctors, aleida
What a great, caring, intuitive and incredibly attentive human being. I am a man who has been in and out of hospitals since 1982. That being said I have seen my fair share of doctors, good and bad. Dr. Harrington Jr. has been exceptional. In not just his own assessment’s but evaluating some of my other doctors diagnosis’ and their treatments. I’ve come to trust him more than most of the other myriad of doctors that I see for various ailments I deal with. He’s a great doctor and an even better human being.
Dr. Harrington is arrogant and untrusting. He did not treat my loved one with respect and upon further investigation, discovered he operated on the wrong side of the head on two separate patients, one of which died. He should no longer be practicing.
He operated on me in 1997 and 1999 in RI hospital I wish he was still here I have been told I need more surgery but I will live in pain no one will ever touch me but him h e gave me twenty good years if he came back to New England I would see him tomorrow he was the best
I have nothing but positive results since having a complex cervical fusion done by Dr. Harrington back in 2005. He was very caring and informative. I'm thankful that he was my neurosurgeon. Doctors who have seen more recent imaging of my neck in 2020 have commented on how stable the c spine looks and how little degeneration has occurred on the levels fused, I can't thank him enough.
I consulted with Dr. Harrington when he was practicing in Providence back in 2007. His business card stated “minimally invasive surgery”, but he wanted to make incisions on both the front and back of my neck for my disc issue. I consulted with four other surgeons and not one suggested such double trauma to my body. I thought he was a quack. Then a few months later I read about his self-assured operation on the wrong side of a patient’s brain. He refused to check with the patient or the chart before this hideous blunder. This happened more than once. One patient later died. Freddie should be selling used cars in my humble opinion! I don’t know if he is still practicing. I heard he’s in Arizona. I hope he retired! People should know. I realize I am posting this way after the fact, but it does not change the fact that this “doctor” should not be practicing!
Hopefully your staff and family might not get hit with this virus. Without you I would not be walking and doing what I am doing. Working through a 6 year anniversary and well thanks to you still walking and talking. We have moved to AZ The winters here I have found can be something towards this condition I have.
He may be kind and patiently explains problems before and after surgeries to others, but not to me. The first time I met him in an emergency room, I sensed his only interest was doing the job for money and nothing more. Because I asked a few questions sometimes, ultimately he revealed he felt I talked too much. The first surgery failed. The 2nd one immediately after was successful for awhile. 1 1/2 years later that surgery failed, but was told he could only help me find other surgeon, and only if I provide test results from another doctor. He changed his mind after seeing the results and said I could seek ER admission and he would conduct another major surgery, no explanations, no pre-op or post-op info, nothing, take it or leave it. Thank God I had an alternative. Personally, no question in my mind he didn't like me because of my race. So, just be careful.
What can we say about Dr. Harrington? That he is the single most special, most caring, and most talented individual my wife and I have ever met. At our moment of need, late on a Sunday evening, he arrived to save us. A finer human being you will never find. A great surgeon, a great man.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
