Excellent care!
In my experience, this doctor is brusque, indifferent, and superficial.
SB Medicine cancer patient receiving the best of care from Dr Schuster and his oncology/BMT teams and are highly knowledgeable and proficient skillfully trained infusion nurses, which are highly recommended.
I have been a patient of Dr. Schuster for 10 years now. When I began, I was a stage-4 Diffuse Aggressive Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma patient. He supervised the Stem Cell Transplant in 2011, and has followed up with 2 more advanced treatments that have kept me alive. I can not say enough good things about Dr. Schuster. He is the absolute best.
He is a very uncaring and arrogant person who completely dismissed my friend, who put her trust in him. He was rude and heartless, while my poor friend sat there upset, scared, and comfused! Doctors are supposed to show concern, empathy, compassion, and determination to heal patients, not make them feel guilty for being infected with cancer! Heal and help people, don't hurt them and make them feel uncomfortable! He should rethink his career and maybe not be allowed to work with people! I'm so sick over the way my friend was treated that had to share this and spread the word. Maybe all the bad reviews will shut him down! Don't go to him!
You would think when diagnosed with cancer, you would find the best Dr. based on credentials. We thought we had found best Dr. months ago and we were wrong. First time around when we met him, we thought his ways of speaking to us was due to him having a bad day etc. we gave him the benefit of a doubt and proceeded to make apts. & tests he require. Several times after that we realized we were totally wrong and he is arrogant, cocky, very short with words and gave minimal information for testing or anything. I truly feel getting a tooth pulled from a dentist I was given more knowledge of what to expect from my dentist then what I received from a cancer Dr. It’s just sad cause as scared as we are with the diagnosis we knew we cannot continue with a Dr. Schuster that has absolutely no bed side manners and we are beyond disappointed & never would want to say anything to jeopardize someone’s credentials but in a serious case as this, I don’t care cause I care more about patients that can end up in the same predicament as my family and don’t want that to happen. I finally decided to speak up after months of holding it in. You can be extremely smart but in this field, Drs always need to have bedside manner, allowed to ask questions and not hushed by a Dr.Schuster & have more than a 2 min apt. I will never ever return to this cancer center. As far as his assistant, no words at all. Last time I been to a Dr. with several in a room they did not treat me like a specimen from a foreign country.

Dr. Michael Schuster is the best of the best.
Dr. Schuster is currently treating my husband for Non-Hodgkins lymphoma and while obviously, we won't be able to know the outcome for a while, we've had a good experience with him. We did a LOT of research before settling with a specialist, and if you check this guy out online, he's done some pretty ground-breaking stuff with bone-marrow transplants (building up the program at Cornell, Gift of Life, etc.) Dr. Schuster's a straight-shooter and he really knows his stuff. My husband and I both appreciate a doctor who will sit down and explain everything to you without "dumbing it down" or being condesending (sp?). The office does get busy, but I just attribute that to him being really good at his job, so it doesn't bother us. Try to get an early appointment towards the beginning of the week if you can. Anyways, he deals with a lot of critical cases, so if you're looking for a doctor who will just magically give you a pill and POOF - make your grave health problems go away in a week, I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure nobody can do that (except for the guy up there). But Dr. Schuster comes pretty close so far. PS- Also, his nursing staff is AMAZING :)
Many years ago he was the bone marrow transplant specialist on my sister- in- laws non hodgkins lymphoma case. He did the bone marrow transplant. He was just awful. uncaring, negligent with his work and she did die.The chemotherapy Doctor who was wonderful apologized to my brother for sending them to him. I guess if she had made it I wouldn't be writing this but she didn't make it and I will always feel that another Doctor could have done alot better. We will always hate him for his uncaring attitude. He is no super Doctor by any means. Please look else where.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
