List of Lawrence Chin's Reviews
Dr. Chin is incredibly rude and dismissive. I can tolerate this in a doctor if they help my symptoms improve, I'm not in a Dr.'s appointment to have a good time. However, he does not take patient concerns seriously, to the point of seriously endangering my health.I saw him for a chronic pain condition for which I had been taking 4-6 ibuprofen a day, but had been seeing bleeding in my stool and experiencing daily nausea. I wanted his opinion on the ibuprofen use and if I could try something else to manage my flare ups given the stomach problems. He insisted that my stomach bleeding was "probably not that bad" (does he live in my toilet? How would he know?) and recommended me to take 9 ibuprofen and 6 tylenol a day, refusing to pre scribe other pain relievers with less impact on my GI system. I luckily ignored his recommendation and saw another Dr. at Sutter Health as well as a pain management Dr. , both of whom were horrified at his recommendation and noted that I probably had a stomach ulcer from the ibuprofen. His recommendation could have made me seriously ill or even caused my death. Maybe things would have been different with him if I was not a small, young woman, but I was put in danger from him not taking my pain and symptoms seriously. I noticed all his positive reviews are from three or more years ago- maybe his attitude towards patients has changed since then. In any case, I urge you to use caution when considering his recommendations and if possible avoid him altogether. He truly does not care about his patients' welfare.
The best word I can use to describe Dr. Chin is DISMISSIVE. He doesn't take seriously many of my concerns and I consider that very rude (as well as frustrating). I don't know why that is, because I don't come to him with frivolous complaints. Please, if you are not comfortable with a physician after the first visit, don't keep going back. Change doctors.
All I can say is WOW! i was in need of ACDF surgery and was terrified because I never had surgery before. I chose to see Dr Chin and it was the best decision I ever made. Every single member of his team and all the staff at Upstate were impressive. They were courteous, understanding, supportive, and knowledgeable.Every appointment was spot on time! If you need any of the services he and his team provide, get in the car, make the drive. You will be happy you did.
I had s1 l4 spinal fusion. Dr chin is the most professional dr around. I'm near 100% able bodied after being borderline disabled...
I wish I had an option for ten stars! Dr Chin and his staff are amazing! If ACDF surgery is needed , this is the only team to see.
Amazing Doctor and staff. Courteous, understanding, knowledgeable ,trustworthy and thorough. If you need any type of neurosurgery, this is your guy!
Dr. Chin is a true professional. His demeanor and professionalism are excellent. My back operation was 100% successful.
Dr. Chin saved my eye sight. I trusted him from the moment I met him.He is very kind and caring.
Dr. Chin has been my doctor for many years and his diagnosis and treatment advice, which have provided successful results. Throughout the years I have had many physical exams, and he has given me good advice with healthy lifestyle recommendations does a thorough job with testing and follow up on my lab results.
Dr. Chin has been my doctor through life's numerous ups and downs over the last few years. He practices a conservative type of medicine, insisting on living healthy over taking medicines, where ever possible. He is mostly data driven in his decisions and will sometime overrule the patient's instincts, as any good doctor should do. On my most recent visit, I asked his advice about how I was feeling with relation to my son's serious health condition. He advised me for about a minute -- very wise and spot on.I feel I have a solid doctor watching over my health while I do battle with the other challenges in my life.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
