Po N. Lam's Online Review Report Card

I would not go to AMP Urolgy ever again. It's coming up on 3yrs after bladder removal sugery and I must have it done again. Because Dr. PO Lam did it wrong. I spent 3 wks. In hospital at Crouse in Syracuse NY do to a infection. Dr. Lam left my bowel leaking into my body causing infection. Took me 12 plus weeks to get back to work. Two more stays at Oneida Hospital due to bowel blockages. Now I must have revistion surgery 3/22/22 with upstate urolgy and Dr. Jacobs.

I had highly aggressive prostate cancer (Gleason 9). Dr. Lam surgically removed my prostate 3 years ago, and I never needed chemo or radiation. In addition, I was fully continent and completely back to normal 8 weeks after surgery. My follow-ups are performed at Roswell Park, and even they are impressed with Dr. Lam's skills. That's really something, when you consider that Roswell Park invented the PSA test.

My visits have included laser surgeries. over a ten year period. Dr. Lam is an excellent surgeon. He is not so good at describing your condition or discussing options fully. He has been lacking in his efforts to describe the procedure, its execution and consequences and does not take second opinions well.

Dr. Lam was great in terms of friendliness and approachability and in terms of intelligence and skill with surgery. My operation was a pretty simple one but he did it with as much care as a more complicated case. Don't return to physical activity too early like I did. I caused myself some pain and swelling but it was entirely my own fault.

Dr. Po Lam is probably the best Urologist/Surgeon in Syracuse. He removed my prostate, after a Gleason 9 diagnosis, confirmed by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo. Incontinence, which is a common side-affect of this surgery, was resolved in weeks, rather than months, due to his competence and bladder preservation technique. Very few surgeons offer that. His Physician Assistant is also excellent. However, the local office: AMP Urology, is not like Roswell.

Best In Central New York. Has performed more Prostatectomies than any other Urologist in the region. He's the one that other Urologists go to when they have cancer. Personable, knowledgeable, caring...you won't find better. 9 months after prostate removal...cancer free.

My first choice.

Met with Dr. Lam to consult with him regarding possible prostate surgery. He is a very knowledgeable and genuine professional. He answered all of my questions in a way that I could understand and showed me respect. He has a great sense of humor and that help when dealing with a subject like cancer. I would highly recommend him and will probably enlist his services if I choose surgery as a treatment option.

Dr. Lam took care of me and and ER experience. I have never met or had a more empathetic kind Dr in my experience. He listened and cared and even called on weekends to make sure I was feeling OK. He's an excellent surgeon. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
