Louis H. Weimer's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Weimer misdiagnosed me. I deteriorated significantly due to his misdiagnosis and lack of investment in my care.

The first time I saw Dr. Weimer he ran tests, examined me thoroughly. At that time he said the reason for my neuropathy may never be known and I should treat the symptoms. He ruled out all the things other doctors tried to tell me was my cause. I returned for a visit and he immediately noticed how my condition had deteriorated. He ran more tests and had this time he reason enough for insurance to run a very pricy genetic test . Sure enough, the cause was found. I have an extremely rare genetic mutation. He and the wonderful young doctor with him helped me find my way through all the ins and outs of my condition. My whole family finds him extremely caring, compassionate, and thorough. I never feel rushed or like any question is silly. My only problem is how hard it is to get an appointment to see him! I live 2 hours away, but I’ll never switch to another doctor. Dr Weimer is my doctor. Period.

Did not take the time to investigate my complex case. Poor visit.

I highly recommend Dr. Weimer. Today I spent one hour in a telehealth visit with him (this was our first encounter) for a second opinion and was extremely pleased. Aside from Dr. Weimer's obvious expertise, I found him to be extraordinarily patient; an excellent listener; very clear in his explanations and guidance; fully "present"; and, last, but not least, empathic.

My wife has a serious condition caused by medication that was improperly given. Dr. Weimer knew this. During the first visit he explained it very clearly. However, when he was informed that there was a lawsuit against the doctor - everything changed. I had to call the Columbia CEO in an effort to get proper testing done. Even he would not help. They refused to do proper evaluation and a scan ...

Poor - He built his practice and career writing articles about drug induced neuropathy. (btw, several of these article are only available overseas). - When he is provided with a person who has exactly what he describes, he will not give a diagnosis. If you are a patient, check your diagnosis. If you have damage from Flagyl/Metronidazole, the diagnosis code should be G62.0 Drug-induced polyneuropathy. He will not select that code because a peer will be liable for the damage. Instead, the code will be G62.9, Polyneuropathy, unspecified. By saying unspecified, he can still treat you but keep his peers out of trouble. - Columbia would not even look at my wife's imaging. I had to call the CEO to try to get proper medical attention and they still declined. I would not waste your time. What is the use of going to a doctor that cannot tell you the truth?

My wife and I went to see Dr. Weimer based on his research and his positioning as an expert. Dr. Weimer was very straight forward that my wife had nerve damage from taking a prescription medication - metronidazole/flagyl. We provided all historical data including a time line, pictures and imaging. Since Dr. Weimer is not a radiologist, I took my wife's images to Columbia radiology. My wife is suffering for serious damage. The problem I have with Dr. Weimer, is that he has an inability to take what he writes and apply it. Dr. Weimer has been at this game for a long time. Here is how it works. There are billing codes that are assigned to the doctors diagnosis. My wife's damage came from when she took metronidazole/flagyl for chronic diarrhea. The material safety data sheet that comes with the drug clearly points out what can happen if the drug is not properly administered. The exact problems that can happen are exactly what happened to my wife. We asked Dr. Weimer to provide a diagnosis. He will not provide a code of G62.0 because someone will be liable for the administration of the drug. Instead, he will pick G62.9. He will say you definitely have polyneuropathy, but you can never be sure what it is from. • o BILLABLE G62.0 Drug-induced polyneuropathy o BILLABLE G62.1 Alcoholic polyneuropathy o BILLABLE G62.2 Polyneuropathy due to other toxic agents o G62.8 Other specified polyneuropathies NON-BILLABLE o BILLABLE G62.9 Polyneuropathy, unspecified I could not even get him or Columbia imaging to look at my wife's imaging. I called the CEO in an effort to get proper medical attention and then received multiple calls as to why I wanted to have the imaging reviewed. There is a major lack of integrity and I would not waste my time.

I waited 4 months to see Dr. Weimer for a second opinion on a complicated neurological condition. I brought extensiveiimaging and lab reports to the consult. Dr. Weimer dismissed my concerns, offered no diagnosis for my symptoms, and offered no treatment options for my severe pain.

I took my son there to see Dr Weimar. The first time he ordered appropriate tests. At the follow up he couldn't diagnose my son because there were no results on the chart. We went home without knowing for sure what was wrong. When my on called Dr. Weimar a few months later to get the results, he was given the doctor's assistant who couldn't find the results either. My son just gave up. And the viit cost a lot. We were told his insurance covered it and it didn't.
