Dr. Benjamin is an awesome Ophthalmologist. He is very knowledgeable, explains everything, answers all of my questions and always helps to improve my vision. I have been using him for over 20 years.

This practice robbed me of my vision and my money. Dr. Benjamin “appears” knowledgeable and caring but that is NOT the case. He makes promises he does not keep, the staff has no idea what they are talking about and often steer you in a very wrong direction, they keep you waiting sometimes over 2 ½ hours for an appointment, they are totally NOT upfront about surgical requirements and expenses and try to make you feel like something is wrong with you when you ask a question. They double bill for cataract surgery and get away with it because the doctor is one expense and the surgical center is another. The surgical center is unorganized and inefficient and lied to me on two occasions. They convince you to have cataract surgery paired with a LASIK procedure ($3.000 not covered by insurance) to correct astigmatism, but my astigmatism is worse since the surgury. I would not recommend Dr. Benjamin or South Shore Eye Care to anyone for any reason.

If I could give him 0 stars I would. I took my 7 year old daughter to him for a first time eye exam. She was referred by the school nurse - having trouble seeing the board. He told her "she better choose good looking glasses or all the kids will hate her and she will have no friends!" I was appalled. He was also rude and condescending to me when I asked him a question. He told me to "pay attention dad, I already answered that."

I've been seeing Dr. Benjamin for more than a decade now. His professionalism and bedside manner are impeccable. The practice is run like a well oiled machine. My appointment was for this morning at 9:30 AM. I arrived 5 minutes late and their parking lot was full. No problem plenty of street parking. I was called in at 9:40 and my comprehensive eye exam was completed at 10:20. Better service by a better group of people would be hard to find. ;

The doctor is very personable and easy to talk to. The front office staff has improved. The wait time has also decreased, which is great - years ago the wait times were almost hours, now they are down to maybe 15 minutes.
